Another excellent Appleseed at Piru, CA.  Weather was nice, 78 degrees, nice 5 mph breeze, Makes you glad to be living in California!

Another reason to be glad, is the caliber of folks at this Appleseed. We started off the morning with 21 on the line. Early redcoat was not that bad...

          Sat am     Sat pm
400=       1               2
300=       0               3
200=       4               5
100=       8               3
HS=        1               5

Pretty good improvement!

ended the day with one rifleman, Don C. shot a 212!  Don C. brought his son, Donny, and two neighbor kids Thomas and Josh. Way to seventh step, before knowing what it was!!!

Steven E. is the model of perserverance!!! I gotta hand it to this guy, this was his 7th appleseed!!! He wants the Riflemans score bad! He even said he was obsessed with getting it. and is determined to do it with his .22 bolt action rifle he had brought to every one of them...  Go gettum Steve, work on the dry firing at home... you will get there.

James Liu, a returning Appleseeder, brought a friend Rick, and ended the day with a 193! Almost there James.. You will get it next time!

End of the day, we saw some improvement, got in a couple AQT's and presented Don C. with his patch... We presented a few Luther Blanchard Youth patchs to:  Brandon, Thomas, Josh, Donny, Jordan Joseph, and Jessica.

I wan to thank Dano, AsMinuteman, MauserSanta for helping out with this shoot... It was a team effort.

AsMinuteman even did his customary costumed appearance at lunch, firing a shot from his flintlock pistol during the first strike on Lexington Green...  The attendees love that stuff!

A great day overall...

Sunday we had 20 back, Brian even brought his wife! Way to go Kim... I think she had a good time.

Sunday was a blur, Dano called the line Sunday afternoon.  We ended up with quite a few in the 180-190 range. and someone got a 205?? Can't remember who it was...

Dano brought his neighbors, Jason, Steve, and Brandon Wolf. They camped over at the range... if you call a large trailer "camping"...

Brandon was our "designated Sniper" and got close with a 201! He kept saying "I ain't gonna let those redcoats burn our town!"  :~

We got another Rifleman on Sunday, Steve Wolf, finally broke through  and got the score... Take a look at the picture and guess what his score was!!! Those of you that know, can see that he was "christened" in the north bridge water!

Congrats Don C. for making California rifleman # 218 and Steve for making California rifleman # 219.

I will leave something for Dano to post and others if they want to...

I will post some pictures after I downsize them.  Thanks to all the attendees for another safe Appleseed!!!

Onward!

It was a great shoot and very busy for once we may be turning around the under attended over instructed reputation. It was very busy indeed! We had some students who were the definition of persistence. John came with an M-1 and a teachable attitude John received one of the Luther Blanchard patches and Shot the M-1 most of the day. His neighbor Jess had never shot a rifle and shot very well. Hopefully she will be back to get the Purple Riflewomens patch! Thanks to Papa John for bringing them out. We had two SKS shooters on the line shooting 4 minute groups! If they had some stripper clips they could have made rifleman. A good thing to have in the shootboss bag of tricks. And who says a giant camper isn't camping! We had to take short showers for fear of running out of water! That is roughing it!!

Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.
