Beautiful weekend for a shoot in the Black Hills.

Range: Stonemeadow Ranch
SB: The Count
IIT: Westcreek

12 shooters on Saturday, 5 on Sunday (2 new)

A little bit windy on Saturday, but at least we didn't have the dust like last time out.   Looked like it kind of wanted to ran all day, but held off until late Saturday night.   After that front blew through, Sunday was absolutely gorgeous!   Clear skies and hardly a bit of wind.   Too bad a lot of Saturday attendees had prior obligations.

Westcreek did a great job getting the range set up and making sure that everything was in order.   Once again Mrs. Westcreek provided some fine vittles for lunch both days.

One new Rifleman on Saturday.    First Appleseed, first AQT, shot a 216!   Excellent work Max!   I'm very impressed.

Two new Rifleman on Sunday.   Jeremy, henceforth known as "So Close",  finally qualified with a score of 226.   This was So Close's fourth Appleseed and he insisted on using his M1-A throughout all of them.    And yes I can't count the number of AQTs where he was off by just one or two rounds.... 208, 205, 197...  just couldn't quite get over that hump... until now.   Very well done Sir.    I am also extremely pleased to report that So Close has stepped up to the next challenge of working towards becoming an Instructor.   Everyone please welcome So Close to the Instructor Corps.   I know you'll do a great job.

GB also made Rifleman on Sunday, I believe with a score of 218.  This was GB's second Appleseed.   First was in Douglas, WY a few years back where Fred and Boston were in attendance.   Glad to have you back GB and keep up the good work!  Nice shooting.

So despite the small turnout it was a successful shoot.   I believe history really got through to a few folks.   Got that fire burning and woke up that patriotic spirit in their hearts and minds.

Until next time,
Andrew - The Count

Just want to say thanks to Count for doing a fine job, gave a fine history presentation and kept things running smoothly.

Congrats to our new Riflemen, here and across the country. I was proud to be present when "So Close" received his patch. We met at my first Appleseed and became friends right off .

Hope everyone had a great weekend.  ^:)^

Congrats Jeremy!
