My thanks to the Tehama Shooters Association for hosting us for our April 17-18 event.

Saturday, our 13 shooters received the morning safety briefing, then heard the First Strike before the morning Redcoat target.  We got through two sheets of squares before breaking for lunch and the Second and Third Strikes.  Then we were back on the line to get ready for the nationwide volley, 1:00 our time.  After the volley, one of our shooters, the mother of a former combat veteran, said she had trouble seeing the target because of tears in her eyes.

By the end of the day, the shooters had heard a generous helping of Founder's quotes, in particular Sam Adams and James Madison.  We finished with two AQTs and the final Redcoat.

Sunday brought beautiful weather to match Saturday's perfect conditions.  We shot squares, then did the Ball and Dummy drill.  Dangerous Old Men and Women stories at lunch, then back to the line for an AQT.  We discovered a Riflewoman amongst us.  Christine shot a score of 210, and was about to receive a few ceremonial drops of water on her head from me.  But her husband Mike grabbed my water bottle and gave her a pretty good soaking.  Well, we all know about payback.  Mike shot 210 on the very next AQT.

Next, we setup and instructed for long range shooting.  Most of the rimfire shooters went out to 100 yards, and our two centerfire shooters verified come-ups out to 400 yards.  Two of our rimfire shooters kept working at 25m to hone their skills.  Persistence was to pay off for them.

Bob and Ed, who I first met in Reno almost a year ago, were attending their fourth Appleseed.  Ed made it first, with a score of 212.  We all knew that Bob would be do it, too.   The next AQT, he did, with a score of 211.

Of the twelve shooters on Sunday, four became Riflemen.  One of our return Riflemen, Curtis, asked for and received an orange hat.  Welcome Curtis.

The Heritage was spoken about throughout the weekend, and the American Revolution lives on in the hearts and minds of a few more citizens.

I really appreciate the help of my fellow instructors Eaglescouter, Norcal22gal, Lucky Shot, and Skill at Arms.  It was my honor to be with all of the shooters and instructors this weekend.

It was truly an amazing weekend for all of us.  From the history, to the Volley, to the amazing fellowship among shooters and staff.  We had shooters from 14 to abt 80, all absorbed the instruction and the history.

My brother shot with us on Saturday and is now hooked!!  Shot a 162 using EagleScouter's Mossberg bolt action...
He'll get it next time.

He also bbq and awesome tri tip for dinner and added a large pan of taters...YUMMMMMMY

Thanks to James E, EagleScouter, Lucky Shot, Skill at Arms, Curtis, and allllllll the shooters who came out and made the weekend awesome.

Look forward to seeing you all on the Appleseed Trail again.

Although due to the enormous growth in CA we couldn't be with you, but we were there in spirit! We got a husband and wife team who took Orange hats. It would be awsome to get another pair up there. Pretty soon we could even have a couples Seed. You guys rock!

At this rate of new Riflemen we might have to find a new initiation, given the water shortages.     ;D
