I took my Tippmann and scope to the LGS. They mounted and bore sighted it. It only cost me $588 to get it done.

$588? I hope there's more to the story.

Either you need a gunstore that provides better pricing, or you bought more stuff.

No, just had the scope mounted at the shop. Saw a number of nice looking WWII era rifles there but didn't buy any.

There was a pawn shop along the way. On a lark I stopped. They had a pretty nice 39a. Turns out it's a 1957. Also being a 1957 I had to bring it home. $38 for the scope. Then there's the $244 for the Ruger 32033 that will host the SIG Romeo 5 red dot. And a Marlin 99 from ~1960 coming from FL. So no more buying for me at least until after the next check deposits in 12 days.

Ok makes way more sense. Now that that's done get to the range!

I wish I could do anything in the next 10 days. Just started a book edit and will go to the dinner table and for pit stops until then. Shouldn't have taken time to go today but glad I did after finding the Marlin I wanted.

Yeah, well if only they'd make it a little more difficult to figure out how to include them. :wb:

Nice- betcha some here would like to see that Appleseed Tippmann :)

No way to input any pics to this site. "Insert image" requires a URL, unlike every other forum I frequent that opens a box for me to choose from my computer. No different than any other Tippmann with a cantilever mount and Vortex scope though. Probably better pics online than I could ever take too.

It's not super-intuitive, but doing the below does get the job done.

Just attach the picture of the Tippmann the way you did the pictures of the Marlin. Some of us who have spent hours answering your questions about setting up your Appleseed rifle would like to see it now, please.

I knew it could/had been done. I always just type in the quick reply box and it doesn't have that little bottom part. And I've eaten and slept since the Marlin pics. Sooooo. Anyway, it doesn't look good like it should but it is done. Maybe I'll get a proper optic at some point and it will look as good as it should. And I'll have a scope for another gun. Win/win. And now it needs angled flip ups to work around the scope.

ShooterMagoo

Au contraire, it looks like something you can take to the clinic, and is therefore beautiful. Just need to get a sling on it & after that the only thing that will make it prettier is a bunch of gunky carbon and CLP along with scuffs & scrapes from using it. May as well lose that rear backup sight though. It can't be used where it is and looks like it's in the way.

Looks like you sprang for the FRT version.

LDB415

Yes, I didn't think of that and they didn't bother to ask. But the rear needs to go meaning the front needs to go since it's useless without the rear. I would have to get a set of the 45 degree angled flip ups and put on it if I wanted them. No point to these with any sight on there.

And yes, it's ready to go, but not and never will be beautiful. It will get closer if I go to a LPVO which has a more proper look for these rifles. Not sure if any ever fully reach beautiful level but for me closest would be original style solid buttstock and carry handle top. That's a proper look. But eventually a LPVO with this furniture could be acceptable.

As to the clinic, managing to fall flat on my butt in the living room an hour ago gives additional pause to the thought of positional shooting. I need a nothing but upright clinic that makes you however good an almost rifleman you can be while remaining upright with a shooting bench handy beside you. And the pistol clinic nearby enough to attend. I understand it is 100% upright.

Oh, and just a regular trigger. No thanks to gizmo stuff. I'll leave that to others.

Ah, but consider... if you're prone already, you can't fall down!

Sir, respectfully we asked for pictures of your LTR. You have given us pictures of a portion of a rifle with a scope. Where is your sling? Why isn't it affixed to your rifle?

This feature is a new thing they came up with to accept an FRT. It would be interesting to know if they ship standard with that now.Tippmann scoped_1.jpeg

You do not have to create an account. I don't and haven't. Don't knock it 'til you try it.

If that's some fancy trigger gizmo setup they ship that way as it is exactly as received other than that scope and mount. I don't think I'd know a front or a back trigger if it fell out at my feet. (A joke on FRT) And I heard a pic of the mounted scope, and don't know threading a sling from threading a parachute. So I got a pic of the scope. Slings etc. will have to wait until after the book edit which may kill me anyway.

And true, once I've fallen and already down there there's no farther to fall. Falling isn't so funny though, in actual practice, compared to cartoons as a kid. Not recommended as a new hobby.

Looks like a perfect setup to get out there and send some lead down range!

Don't stress about the up and down of the stages. We have had plenty of folks who struggled with the up and down. A lot of them are allowed to remain seated or in prone, while everyone else transitions from standing to seated/prone. They just can't shoot until they hear someone from the transitioning group fires! One of our local guys who regularly attends has a lot of back issues and utilizes these accommodations and he has now shot two 250 scores. He is the one person who has claimed a Tippmann rifle as part of the giveaway this year. He shot it in SC. So don't fret! Just try and if it doesn't work for you, then you'll know.

LDB415

The unwelcome truth is time and age wait for no one. Recent events have solidly reminded and reinforced this with a fall and outings of a couple of hours that ran my batteries down to the red. So an all day event, and especially 2 full days, is definitely excess at this point. I may try a Pistolseed at some point since it is 1 day and done, and no positions required, and hope there's enough sitting interspersed to manage it. So I've given up my spot at the 25M and hope someone gets it who's able to fully enjoy it all. And I'll hang around and learn what I learn here and make some dumb comments at times and ask dumb questions now and then for as long as it's tolerable. :)
