Constitution Day Celebration; Storytellers Hideaway Farm, Bon Aqua, TN; 917 Society

The afternoon of Saturday, September 17, 2022, Black Knight, Dracomiester, and Bluegrass Colonel set up tables and pop up canopies at Storytellers Hideaway Farm in Bon Aqua, Tennessee.  Storytellers was Johnny and June  Cash's country farm 42 miles west of Nashville.  It is a lovely place with large meadows, the country house, now a museum, a covered outdoor stage and barn.

The non-profit organization 917 Society hosted a Constitution Day Celebration and invited Project Appleseed to have a booth and make a short presentation during the formal activities in the evening.

The celebration started out slowly with individuals drifting in throughout the afternoon.

Mid-afternoon Living Hand joined us and brought his two beautiful daughters.

As the crowd grew so did our opportunities to present the Project Appleseed mission.  We were visited by U.S. Representative Mark Green as well as other candidates for various Tennessee state offices.

Since the pace was generally slow, we were able to have extensive discussions about Project Appleseed with the attendees.  Several visitors expressed strong interest.

We were granted 3-5 minutes to make a presentation to the crowd from the stage.  It seemed well received and the audience was engaged.  After the presentation several people approached us to say they appreciated the presentation and the passion about the mission.  One gentleman asked if the same presentation could be made to a veterans group in Franklin, Tennessee after the first of the year.  After a follow up call, we may have an opportunity to make a presentation to that group in January. Dr. Ming Wang, a widely known eye surgeon and strong patriot, approached us and stated that he enjoyed the presentation.

My father didn't serve in WWII.  It wasn't for lack of trying.  He attempted to enlist 3 separate times.  The last time the doctor said he was too short.  He responded that he signed up again because he said he saw a poster that was recruiting short men to be pilots.  The doctor said, "Short, yes.  But this is ridiculous."  In my book, he's still a hero.
