I just learned that the annual HUGE homeschool conference in Colorado will have an Appleseed booth on the vendor hall floor... complete with a ten lane pellet rifle range, offering the chance to SHOOT indoors to those registered attendees. What an idea.....

Kevin Swanson is one of the early movers in Colorado homeschooling, I've met and talked with him on a few occasions, heard him speak on more. I know for a fact he is strongly pro second ammendment, pro guns, and pro involving young chlidren with them as early as possible. He told me one time he had his five kids write out on a piece of paper the ten things they liked best about homeschooling... more than one of them listed the fact that they can have their rifle right next to them at their desk....  sometime back he posted a photograph of his oldest daughter, then 14, with her first buck...  a nice big one... which she had shot and killed with one round.  Swanson is also strongly libertarian and constitutional, and has written and taught on these topics, and well.

I am looking forward to working the Oregon homeschool convention in a couple of weeks..... I will be looking forward to seeing, and visiting with at our booth, a fair number of families I know well, and have for many years. Appleseed is a perfect match for the entire homeschool
crowd...... and I am SO glad we will be actively promoting our program to that huge group.

Prone to Knit

Nick:

MtnManPrepper, our CO Promotions Coordinator, worked out that deal. The Christian Home Educators of Colorado annual conference is pretty excited about having us there (and they donated all the space).

We've taken the pellet line/booth/stage time for our stories to several Self Reliance Expos so far and those events are very successful and the pellet line really draws attention. Guess how many parents we get to talk to about Appleseed while their kids are waiting to shoot (or the whole family is waiting to shoot)? Many of them are homeschool families and they are very receptive to our message.

When CHEC found out about the pellet line, they said they had to have it, too. We also have stage time on Friday and Saturday.

I know one of the vendors there teaches concealed carry classes. The conference seems to be very open to the shooting community.

An idea you've probably already thought of (I got it from ShadowMan) is to have a flyer regarding the LibrarySeeds - the ones you have scheduled and a contact for setting them up for groups. A very large percentage of the attendees at our LibrarySeeds are homeschool families. We've seen the kids sitting there taking notes on the stories!

Have fun at your conference!
