Dubuque 19-20Sep2026

We had "Mud Seed #2" in Dubuque as we endured nearly five inches of rain on Saturday. Sunday brought us drizzles off and on all day so it kept things wet, but no downpours that threatened to weigh down our overhead protection and pull stakes out of the ground like we encountered on Saturday.

All our shooters were real troopers, persisting through the adverse conditions and making the best of a crummy situation. Three Huzzah's go out to Bridget, Andrew, and Nate for earning their rifleman patches on Sunday. Bridget shot a 213, Andrew scored a 223 to earn  his patch and then after having some ammunition failures that cost him 30 points still managed to get a 211 by shooting a 98 on stage four. Nate earned his patch by shooting a 214.

I believe Brock, Gabriel, and Scott had never fired a rifle before. By Sunday afternoon they had made huge improvements and were doing very well. I look forward to them earning their rifleman patch at a future event.

Augie and his grandfather were holding down the right end of our firing line with bolt action 17 HMR's. While running the bolts slowed them down a bit, they were shooting very good groups.

Jimmy was holding his own, but wasn't able to break the 200 point mark. But I'm confident he will earn his rifleman patch if he keeps it up. Andy, his dad, cleared the Hits Count target on Sunday afternoon. He was having some equipment issues with his bolt action rifle which kept him from breaking the 210 score.

All in all it was a fantastic event and I enjoyed working with everyone.
