Here is part of the group:

Just before Christmas, BF and I traveled to the Denver area to instruct Colorado's second IBC. The goal was to bump up the new IIT's and the other IIT's a few notches.

Colorado has lots of untapped communities just waiting for the AS message. These CO Riflemen are making great headway by pushing the Appleseed mission deeper into their state. As a result, more new IIT's are entering the fold. Most of this group has previously worked together, and are fast becoming a well-oiled machine that will soon be unstoppable. :---

Colorado has a rich history of rugged, savvy individuals who love firearms and personal freedoms. With names like Colorado Pete and Franktown Kid you know you are among folks who know very well what they are about. All those Colorado Appleseeders present this weekend are the crème of the crop. O0

11 instructors showed up rarin' to go. They ranged from IIT0 to IIT4.  With the help of Long Rifle (SB/RI) we had a nice instructor/IIT ratio for live demos.

The IBC POI Manual was used as our guide for the 2 very long days.  ~~:)
It is forty some pages on what it takes to be an RWVA instructor.

On Day 1 we started with:
Defining the missions and goals of AS.
Throughout the weekend, we stressed that "getting the mission done safely" is the goal of an Instructor. It doesn't matter how much you have to or adapt, persist and overcome: "get the mission done safely."

We discussed ideas to deal with increased publicity that AS is getting.

There were also some very experienced shooters from High Power to Bullseye, etc.
We had lots of good ideas and teaching styles to discuss.
However, we emphasized that when it's your turn on stage as an Appleseed Instructor you:

"Frame it Up"
Keep it "Simple and Precise"
Just teach 'em the "Basics"

BF and I demoed slings and positions.
Then we broke into small groups of 3-4 to give each IIT a chance to demo the SHF's for each position.  Shooting is easy, but teaching can often be a challenge for some.
We are simply fellow Americans teaching fellow Americans how to shoot. Just like talking to your buddies.
Feedback was given and by the second try, each IIT had realized that "simplicity and precision" indeed gets the job done best.

On Day 2 we started with reviews.
The RedCoat and AQT targets were passed around for each IIT to explain.  &)
In the true spirit of a Rifleman, everybody jumped in and gave it a go, even the newest IIT's. :---

Cora_Munro set a new speed record for explaining the AQT to us. She also types over 100 WPM, and so was able to create an accurate record of the entire event. There will be no time monkey when she is SB. @&) (Her leg in a cast didn't seem to slow her down much: now THAT is commitment!)  :~

Colorado Pete gave a great demo on the 1907 sling on his M1 and showed us the use of the Ching sling.
Yes, these 2 types of slings do show up. ^-^

History led us to present day topics as: What is commitment?
Ans: Doing something that you don't want to do, when you don't want to do it. And in your heart you know it needs to be done so who is going to do it if you don't?
Isaac Davis and others that day were discussed and we talked about how to get started with telling the 3 Strikes.

Which led into, choices, performances, sacrifices and what the lessons are.

We ended the last part of the second day with various test questions from the PC's. TPI as always.

We want to personally thank Val and his family for their hospitality and providing warm, comfortable facilities for the entire weekend.

Everyone showed great enthusiasm to learn and share, and we have now doubt this group will be setting AS records in no time.
Riflewoman showed up for a while (with her mom) and it was great to finally meet her.

The 25 hour round-trip was well worth it. As always, Appleseeders are top notch folks.
It was a real honor and pleasure to work with all you!

If YOU are thinking, WE are winning.

It took me until today to get signed on to Colorado's page.  TaosGlock and BlueFeather offered up a great class. I am on board.  I am not sure that I have access to the IIT pages or the AS schedule to volunteer.  Can someone help me join the effort to awaken America to their heritage by making sure I can get to the forum pages?

You will eventually get all set up my friend!
I just sent all you guys info in and Nickle will get the changes made. Be patient, it's often slow this time of year and the wheels inside the machine are getting used to the new forum software.

It was great to meet you and we look forward to seeing you again.

Colorado Pete

Dan & Gill, thanks for making the trip! Although I could only make the Saturday, it was well spent and I imagine that things went equally well Sunday. Colorado is beginning to grow a nice group of orange hats...given our growth rate in shoots coming up, we will need them this coming year!

See ya at the Whittington Center next year!

Cora_Munro

Hi all, I am attaching my notes for the IBC....they are completely undoctored and are probably missing some bits, but I hope this helps. If/when (we are going for the when) I go over them and re-write it (I plan to devote 1 day each week to AS for the next few months in the ways of learning, reading, etc), I will re-post them here. If any of you are interested in the doctored up and prettier version, please feel free to PM me and let me know so that I can send it to you directly.

Kindest Regards,

Melody aka Cora :)

p.s. it was created in Open Office, so if you're not able to open it, let me know and I'll get a pdf up for y'all (just more difficult to edit).
