The first Appleseed at the Frontier Sportsmans Club, South Range just east of Fountain, CO was blessed with persistent shooters and hot, dry weather.  Sunscreen and water, and more water, were the order of the day as 28 shooters began their journey toward Rifleman on Saturday morning.  Twenty returned Sunday to hone their new skills on AQT's.  Over the two days, 6 Appleseeders earned their Rifleman patch, and one accepted the Orange Hat.  It was a great beginning of what we hope will be a long series of successful Appleseeds at Fountain.  Congratulations to all those who came and learned (and sweated).

I would like to thank all the instructors for a great shoot. I was not a horrible shot before Appleseed, but I can't believe how well I'm shooting now. It was a pretty intense weekend, but it was worth every second.

I'm looking forward to becoming an instructor.......... 8)

The Appleseed project is just what our country needs right now.

We had a good crew of shooters who were already part-way up to speed. Two of the smiling patch-holders, Skid and Franktown_Kid, were already orange hats and if I'm not mistaken some or all of the other four had already been to at least one AS already. So, they had a good leg up! Very good folks to work with. I hope to see them come back. One of them, Brian, took the orange hat, so we'll be seeing his smiling face more often around here! Congrats to all for the patches and for getting off the couch and committing a weekend to Appleseed!

To whom it may concern,
I chose this topic because I can not seem to get into any others. What is happening to this website? Is there a special boot camp on how to keep up with all these changes? Who  are the brainiacs behind these changes? Does this help markmanship? Please reply!

Congratulations to the new Riflemen and to the new orange hat!

My first Appleseed and my first post on this forum.  Thank you all for the fine instruction.  I have been competitively shooting for over 30 years, so I really didn't expect to learn much.  I figured it would be a great weekend away with my wife and a good opportunity for more trigger time.  I was wrong and I admit it.  Making me go through all those long held fundamentals forced me to refocus back to the basics.  I am a better shot because of it.  Got my Rifleman patch on the first try, but not by much.  Because of the great instruction I was able to clean the last "red coat target".  Something I thought I'd do on day one, but didn't.  My hat is off to all of you and while I didn't step up to the orange hat, I'm sure I will.  It's just that my shooting schedule is full and when I commit to something, I do so 100%.

I have already become an evangelist for Appleseed and hope to bring at least two new people to the next one. Again, Great People, great instruction and this is the kind of organization I need to get involved with.

Stay Safe,

Good job to all who showed up.  Congrats to the riflemen, welcome aboard! To those that did not get the patch yet, Persist, Overcome and practice, practice, practice.  The system works.  Attend another appleseed up in gunnison--we have four coming up.

I started as a new shooter april 19 this year.  I did not score rifleman at my first event.  But I took my six steps, steady hold factors and NPOA and IMC to my local range again and again.

The result:  I scored rifleman one month later. I just finished helping at an event in raton,nm. The next day I took my M1 garand for a test drive on the high power silhoette range and I knocked down targets at 500 after starting with my 25yard (200yard) zero.  I am a consistent 500yard, iron sight shooter because of the good folks at appleseed.  Now its time to plant more seeds.

Oh, I don't know, I sort of like those orange hats. Give it a sort of Halloween feeling to everything.
