Anyone know of a source for two piece firing pins for the FN49? I would like to replace my 1 piece.

oldbolts,

Never heard of anything like that.

Didn't know anyone was tooled up to make aftermarket parts for such a small (relatively) market.

You need to specify which rifle also, the .30-06 definitely uses a different length firing pin than the 8 mm version and the 7 mm and 7.65 X 53 versions may use yet a different firing pin, but I don't know for sure.

We are lucky to still be able to find original parts for them.

What is the two part firing pin about anyway?  Is it an attempt to lighten the firing pin and reduce slam fires?  Seems like you could do the same thing with the CCI Milspec primers.

If you find some let me know.

I own a 30-06, 8mm, and 7mm one and they are all the same length.  Some have a FPSS, or firing pin safety system and some don't.

I don't want a pin breaking on my and firing out of battery.

Uhlan

Gun Parts/Numrich Arms used to have them.
Gabe Possenti; One hell of a shot!

Flathead

Northridge used to a source of parts for that fine rifle.

The two piece set up was in response to the propensity of broken pins causing the rifle to fire auto. The pin would catch while out of the bolt face and cause this. Don't want my rifle doing an Olofson on me. Thanks for the responses. Ill check them out.OB
