When we schedule the Known Distance events for the next year, the belief is that a spring event and a fall event should be cooler weather (or cooler at least for Texas).  We were half correct this year, the March event was blistering almost reaching the century mark which is unusual, but we could not have asked for a more beautiful weekend to spend outside.

12 participants came out to learn about history, heritage, and to test their marksmanship.  The first AQT of the day is the longest by far, as the class wants to confirm their drops and record their D.O.P.E. for the weekend.  There's usually some wind blowing up at Muenster, and this event was no different, though the wind was mostly blowing directly at the target line.  There were some instances of what we'd call 'half value' wind, but nothing too crazy.

Some solid scores were fired on day one, with Ted and Joe flirting with distinguished scores.

Day two started with the ranging exercise, with Joe and Steve both very close to the theoretical, but Steve was just a bit closer and took the prize.  Next on the agenda for day 2 was Morgan's shingle.  4 of the students demonstrated their ability to put a shot on Captain Morgan's shingle, earning themselves a patch and having their names added to the roster.  Nice work Joe, Ted, Jessica and Haydn!

As the afternoon progressed, more AQTs were fired, and more solid scores from the class.  Haydn who had been a hit shy on earlier AQTs, demonstrated his persistence and focus, and earned himself a patch.  With a fixed target line, it means a good bit of leg work for the class, combined with the temperatures it can make for a long weekend.  Despite all of these factors, Eric finished the weekend strong tying his best score for the weekend on that final AQT.

Many thanks to everyone who came out to the event, their attention to safety and their enthusiasm made this a successful event.

Special thanks to Aaron and Ted for helping with RSO duties over the weekend.
