I want to thank the members and board Illinois State Rifle Range for allowing us to use their beautiful facility for the weekend.

We started our weekend with 13 Patriots ready to learn about our shared American Heritage and Pistol Marksmanship. The group had a good mix of newer and experienced shooters.  Some were first-time attendees; others have been around the program for decades.  After setting the tone for the weekend with the First Strike of the match, we covered our safety plan for the weekend.  Following the safety brief, we brought pistols to the line and engaged the first Hits Count target of the weekend. 8 cleared the 44 yd target and 5 hit Pitcairn's Button.  One of our first time attendees, Ris, cleared the target!  This was the first time to clear one at my event for Ris, and she was awarded a George Rogers Clark quarter.

As we slowly built up the skills and coached them through grip, stance, sights and trigger, we introduced the PQT target.  By the end of the day, we completed the first PQT. We closed the shooting portion with another Hits Count Target and saw improvement.

On Sunday, 11 came back for another dose of American Heritage and Marksmanship instruction.  After reviewing yesterday's instruction and a safety brief, we brought pistols to the line.  Our first target, saw 8 clear the 44 yard target, 7 clear the 60 yard target, 3 clear the 100 yard target, 4 hit the button and another 2 cleared the whole target.  After lunch, we shot a couple more PQTs to refine our skills.  By the end of the day, 4 new Riflemen revealed themselves.  Alex and Jeremy, both return shooters, Clint, a first-time Pistolseed attendee, and Ris, a first time attendee, scored.  This group turned in scores of 213 to 228.  Our last Hits Count Target had 7 shooters clear the 44 silhouette. 5 hit the 60 silhouette, 2 cleared the 100 target, and 5 hit the button.  1 cleared it.

I want to thank my cadre that kept things running smoothly. Geek, Bundt Pan, Vopps & Potato Hole made my part easy.  I appreciate your time and commitment to our program.

Another Pistolseed on the books!!  Sounds like y'all had a great event!
It's not about perfection -- it's about progress!!

I LOVE this stuff!

"Perhaps you and I have lived with this miracle too long to be properly appreciative. Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again" Ronald Reagan

"This country has been made by the Timothy Murphys, the men in the ranks. Conditions here called for qualities of heart and hand that Tim Murphy had in abundance. Our histories should tell us more about the men in the ranks, for it was to them, more than to the generals that we were indebted for our military victories." -  Franklin Delano Roosevelt, as New York Governor, 1929, at the dedication of the memorial to Murphy
