Saturday, August 15th, greeted us with 11 Patriots ready to learn marksmanship, heritage, and the skills of  Pistolseed. Unfortunately, beautiful weather was not on the agenda, as we fought rain and nasty weather throughout both days of the event. Despite the conditions, the shooters stayed on the line, worked hard, and continued to improve.

After the safety briefing and introductory instruction, we got to work on the fundamentals of pistol marksmanship. Throughout the day, shooters worked through progressively more advanced instruction, interspersed with breaks, history, and lessons on the Three Strikes of the Match.

A special congratulations goes to Josh C., who earned his first Pistoleer patch with a solid score of 216! Huzzah!

Sunday morning dawned with 10 Patriots ready to get back on the line. The weather continued to challenge us, but the shooters persevered. Two shooters successfully cleared the Hits Count target Sunday morning!

Throughout the day, shooters continued working on their pistol marksmanship, learned additional history, and enjoyed coffee, snacks and fellowship despite the weather. The improvement across the line was evident.

Sunday brought several outstanding achievements. Ben earned his first Pistoleer patch with a very nice 219! Huzzah!

Jacob also earned his first Pistoleer patch with an excellent 221! Huzzah!

Jason re-qualified multiple times throughout the weekend, posting a high score of 231. Outstanding shooting!

Pistoleer Achievements

Marksmanship improved steadily throughout the weekend, with several shooters earning or re-qualifying as Pistoleer:

Josh C. earned his first Pistoleer patch with a solid 216. Huzzah!

Ben earned his first Pistoleer patch with a very nice 219. Huzzah!

Jacob earned his first Pistoleer patch with an excellent 221. Huzzah!

Jason re-qualified multiple times over the weekend with a high score of 231. Outstanding!

Sunday Fun Shoot

Sunday afternoon brought our Fun Shoot, and Jacob and Jason found themselves tied at the end of the competition. This meant only one thing: a father-son duel for prizes of unspeakable value!

In the end, experience and old age prevailed. Jason defeated Jacob and secured the victory!

A hard-fought battle, a worthy opponent, and—most importantly—a great deal of fun. Huzzah!

Thank You

We would like to extend a special thank-you to the Shelby County Sheriff's Department Range for hosting our event and providing us with a place to gather, learn, and practice our marksmanship.

Despite fighting rain and nasty weather both days, the weekend was a tremendous success. The determination and good attitudes of the shooters made the challenges well worth it.

Until Next Time

To all who attended: thank you for spending your weekend with us. Your willingness to endure the weather, learn, improve, and encourage one another is what makes these events special.

And for those still chasing that Pistoleer patch:

Dry fire! Dry fire! Dry fire!

Huzzah!

Coffee!!
Coffee took root in America during the Revolution largely because tea became a symbol of British control and taxation. After events like the Boston Tea Party (1773), many colonists boycotted tea as an act of resistance.
Coffee, being imported from places outside British-controlled trade networks, became the patriotic alternative—drinking coffee was increasingly seen as a way to reject British influence. ☕🇺🇸

Every time we drink a cup of coffee we are participating in our heritage as Americans in resisting tyranny! Huzzah!!

Father son duel! Congratulations Jason!

I had a fantastic time and really appreciated the instructors patience, and helping us all improve. The challenging weather certainly increase the degree of difficulty but really learned a lot. Thanks again and looking forward to doing my next Appleseed!
