We had a full line of shooters at the Third Annual 200 Yard Rimfire KD held on Rush Creek.

The stream valley gives a prefect setting for each of the four target lines to be engaged from the firing line.  Rifles were zeroed at fifty yards and bullet drop verified at the 100, 150 and 200 yard lines.

The day proceeded well until about 2:45 when a severe pop-up thunderstorm developed over us taking everyone by surprise. High winds and 1.5 inches of rain fell (kinda sideways) over the next fifteen minutes and destroyed two tents, wreaked havoc to the target lines and soaked everyone to the skin. As we struggled to take down the remaining tents, the shoot was called for the day.

But what a difference a day makes! Shooters and instructors arrived around 7:30 Sunday morning to re-hang target backers; soon it was as if nothing had happened. Cooler temperatures and intermittent light breeze kept everyone comfortable, but also became very frustrating at the 200 yard line when it was near impossible to calculate wind drift. Even so, we still had two new Rimfire KD Riflemen, Devil Kitty with forty hits out of fifty and Whittemore75 scored forty-one.  Maddog1776 re-qualified with a forty-one and Chief Lane also re-qualified with a forty-three.

We had some great history presentations by the instructors of The Green Dragon Tavern, Ethan Allen and Fort Ticonderoga, Kings Mountain and Ephraim Bank. But we were also treated to presentations of the Culpeper Spy Ring by Alex K., and  John Stark by Learner; this was the first history told by either, and they both did an awesome job.

The shoot ended a bit later than normal, but no one was complaining as we enjoyed a very pleasant summer day among kindred spirits.

Water. In my everywhere.

Forty. Hey, a pass is a pass - I economized* and only sent 44 rounds downrange... This is the toughest course of fire we have. Shoot one (or more!) if you can.

* Read "biffed the reload on stage 2."

And much thanks to Shep and the Ohio crew for having me.
