Project Appleseed

An amazing group of people met this weekend to hone rifle skills and hear the story of liberty.
Historically being in the hottest week of the year here in Iowa, Saturday came with temps in the mid 90s, clear sky and little breeze. Shooters bore the oppressive weather and all from our first time youth to our experienced friends persevered showing impressive stamina and marksmanship. Meeting the test, I think all showed improvement and had one new rifleman, two requalified and one requalified distinguished.

Thanks to the Ankeny Izaak Walton League (Dragoon Trail Chapter of the Izaak Walton League) for allowing us to use their terrific facility.  Anyone reading this locally should check them out.

Most thanks to our shooters, a truly delightful group to associate with, work with, and learn from.   

Thank you Mark (and associate instructors Rex, Joe, Brian, Cody).  Kaisen and I had a great time despite the intense heat.  I wish we hadn't forgot the camelbak blister in the car Saturday because he sure could have used it  throughout the day.  We saved some photos and already practiced some more dryfire positions in the climate-controlled basement !! 

Considering trying to reserve spots for the Winterset Appleseed also.  Those 400s are quite small and difficult for me to focus on for long but I am very excited to finally have learned these sling techniques.
