Special thanks to the Palmerton Rod & Gun Club for hosting us this past weekend.  They were very helpful in all aspects of getting ready for two days of an Appleseed Rifle Clinic.  And we are headed back there again August 8-9.

We all had a great weekend of marksmanship and heritage.  The shooters all persevered through the heat and we saw significant improvement as the weekend progressed.  We worked through the day proceeding from demonstration to dry fire practice to live fire confirmation of our marksmanship instruction, combined with history and heritage.  There were a couple of minor equipment issues throughout the weekend; quickly corrected by the knowledgeable staff.  Everyone was very receptive to the course of instruction, and especially the history and heritage, necessitating many stories.

All but one returned on Sunday, and we worked through more instruction and AQT's. All showed consistent improvement as the day progressed, and confirmed their capabilities as we extended to 100 yards. All shooters demonstrated 4MOA or better groups to their surprise and delight, by applying the fundamentals they had just learned! Huzzah!

Antique firearms and other equipment from the age were shown, highlighting the challenges of the day and leading right into the story of Hezakiah Wyman, a very Dangerous Old Man.

The shooters showed those pesky Redcoats the strength of our cause on both the AQT and Hits Count Targets; four of five returning shooters Sunday qualified with three newly minted Rifleman – Michele, Chris, Jason, Allison (re-qualified), along with one of our cadre Joe who also re-qualified.

Thanks to all the shooters, instructors and the Palmerton Rod & Gun Club for a great weekend.

Last evening, it occurred to me that when a defender of Liberty is called home, their load lands upon the shoulders of the defenders left behind. Just as the Founders did their duty for Liberty, every subsequent generation must continue their work lest Liberty perish. As there is no way for the remaining adults to take on the work of those that die, we must pass the ideals and duties on to the children. -PHenery
