What a weekend!

It rained all day, both days.
The shooters willing to put up with the rain did very well.
It was so wet, one of the instructors wore hip waders on Sunday. He was the only one who stayed dry.

On Sunday, after all the soggy targets were scored, we had 2 new riflemen and a requalification.
17 year old return shooter, Autumn, was consistently the high scorer this weekend reaching 225 twice.
17 year old Brianna, had never touched a rifle but clearly has natural talent.
Tyler, first time Appleseeder, ended the weekend with a 213.
One of our orange hats requalified with a 220.

Any weekend at an Appleseed event is a good weekend, even if it rains

I would like to thank Hurlburt Field Rifle and Pistol Club, the board and the club members for the continued  support of Project Appleseed.
We had some awesome patriots on the line, braving some horrible weather and most returned for day two.
I would like to congratulate Autumn and Tyler on achieving their rifleman's score you did an outstanding job in some really challenging weather. Those that came close, remember dry fire, it's not just a rifleman's skill it's a life skill. Practice perfectly and you too will earn that coveted rifleman's patch.
Thanks to all the instructors that came out to assist these patriots in their rifleman's journey. I hope to see you all at our next event.

We had another great event at Hurlburt Field Rifle and Pistol Club!  Thanks so much to the club for always supporting us!  We enjoyed a great weekend with great patriots who were willing to come out and brave the cool, rainy weather.

Congratulations to Autumn for scoring several Rifleman scores!  Also Tyler for scoring a Rifleman score and clearing our last hits count target!

Everyone else did great! Especially first-timer Brianna.  It was her first time ever shooting and it was amazing to watch her listen, learn and apply -- unfortunately she wasn't able to come back on Sunday, but I know she has a Rifleman patch in her future!

It's not about perfection -- it's about progress!!

I LOVE this stuff!

"Perhaps you and I have lived with this miracle too long to be properly appreciative. Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again" Ronald Reagan

Rain and sand are a tough combination on rifles.  Congratulations to the folks that persisted.  Persistence is a quality that is admired among Riflemen.

Our cause is just . . . our country will be grateful - George Rogers Clark

"This country has been made by the Timothy Murphys, the men in the ranks. Conditions here called for qualities of heart and hand that Tim Murphy had in abundance. Our histories should tell us more about the men in the ranks, for it was to them, more than to the generals that we were indebted for our military victories." -  Franklin Delano Roosevelt, as New York Governor, 1929, at the dedication of the memorial to Murphy
