It was a fine day for Liberty at the Floyd County Wildlife Club. I would first like to thank everyone at FCWC for allowing Appleseed to use their facility and being gracious hosts. Saturday brought sunshine and warm weather as 8 shooters joined us for a Patriots Day calibration. We of started the day with one of the most important topics of the day The First Strike. It was great having Capt. John Parker (Roswell) bring the history to life.

It was now time for the most important discussion of all SAFETY. With the safety rules and safe rifle covered it was time to get down to business. The shooters were sent to get their rifles and make them safe on the line. With line commands covered and targets put into place, we turned the shooters loose. After scoring the hits count targets, we found David had cleared the target.  O0   We also found there was some instruction needed.

Eye dominance, sling use, the first 3 steps of firing the shot, NPOA, and Prone Position were covered. We then took the time to fit rifles and confirm the shooters were in the correct position. We then went over the first 3 steps before covering the last of the 6 steps. Dry fire was covered and practiced as we prepared to shoot our first squares target of the day. We found great improvement across the line and continued to shrink the groups. After a few squares it was time for my favorite Lunch. During lunch Leadslinger66 delivered the Second Strike.

A few squares after lunch brought us to Talking Targets and IMC. The shooters adjusted their sights and confirmed the adjustments just in time for Rifleman Cadence and Mag Change drills. It was time to introduce a new target, THE AQT. Transition to prone was taught and we dryfired the stage before shooting Stage 3. Sitting was taught next as well as the transition. The shooters were given time to try and find their ideal seated position and dry fired the stage. With Stage 2 shot the sunshine was working on everyone, so a hydration and shade break was called as the shooters heard the Third Strike.

It was time to teach standing and shoot Stage One. Stage Four was shot, and we began scoring targets. The shooters were given the option of shooting another Hits Count target and 3 accepted. David once again cleared the target, and all 3 shooters hit the Shingle. ^:)^   With the Benediction given it was found that David knew well what he was about requalifying with a 226.

Sunday was nothing like Saturday and with a weather forecast that changed multiple times 2 of our 8 shooters returned to shot in a constant rain. IAO was the course of fire as bad weather was forecast for the afternoon. Instead of a morning Hits Count target we shot the Memorial Volley. One squares target to confirm sight adjustments and we dove into an AQT. We huddled in the driest spot we could find and shared the story of William Heath. With sprinkles of history, we shot a second AQT. It was found Leadslingger66 also knew well what he was about requalifying with a 223. A little more history and the lightening began to bare down us use. With everyone soaked to the bone we had no choice but to close up shop early and get out of dodge.

I want to thank everyone for coming this weekend and learning about your heritage. A big shout out to Zane, John, and my Instructors for showing up Sunday morning and enduring the rain. It was a true Valley Forge type experience. I look forward to seeing you all on the line again in the near future.

I noticed you just said fine day and not weekend.  That storm looked brutal.  It sounds like a successful second shoot in Rome, despite the storm.  Congrats on those that requalified and the improvements for everyone.

I can't wait for the Rome rimfire known distance November 9th - https://appleseedinfo.org/location/?locationid=1103&eventid=10459

This event was at the club I belong too and was upset that I had a previous obligation to attend to, and could not go to this one. However, after reading about the rain, I'm glad I have another chance at the Huntsville Alabama one.

We have 3 more 25m rifle events this year at Rome.

I was one of the two who made it back on Sunday.  I'm also a member of the club.

I cannot say enough how much I appreciate the Instructors giving up their own time and making the effort to help the students.   We, the students, could not have asked for better Instructors.  The Instructors made sure that safety was the number one thought on our minds at all times.  The Instructors were incredibly patient with all of us and did everything that they could to help us improve.   The Instructors made sure that all of the instructions were clear and understood at every stage of the teachings.   And the instructors individual instruction was priceless.

I just wish that the weather on Sunday would have been better.

This was a great Patriot's Day Event despite the terrible weather on Sunday. The Floyd County Wildlife Club continues to be gracious hosts. And it was great to see so many families out there.

Here are the few pics I took. Apologies for the delay.

Down range on Saturday.

Down range on Sunday.

It was great seeing Gator0246 get to hand a patch to his uncle Leadslinger66, as he re-qualified. Another great family moment.
