A group of 20 shooters filled the line at the Cherokee Rod & Gun Club in Kingsport, TN, for a lively 25m rifle marksmanship clinic. Many families with children of all ages were in attendance, and they brought a unique energy to the event. The four-person instructor crew represented three states, traveling from Tennessee, Georgia, and North Carolina to join in the fun. Even a few rain showers at the end of our second day didn't dampen spirits one bit.

Almost all the shooters were brand new to Project Appleseed, and they soaked up the instruction with teachable attitudes and positivity. It's hard work to learn and perfect a new skill, and these shooters embodied the idea that "a rifleman persists!" The instructors were particularly impressed with the attentive engagement of all the shooters during every block of instruction and the history stories. The shooters' insightful questions and observations showed that they were processing the instruction and understanding the important points on a deep level.

Congratulations to Brian who achieved a qualifying score and received his rifleman's patch. And big thanks to Artie for stepping up to volunteer in the Applecore with a blue hat. We will be thrilled to see all the participants back at another Project Appleseed event soon!

Lastly, thank you to the dependable and well-prepared instructor crew of Upacreek, Wileycoyote, and Devereux, who made it possible!

"Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will. Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them, and these will continue till they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress."       --Frederick Douglass

Awesome job Dan and the rest of the team.  My son and I really learned a lot.  The whole weekend was handled professionally.  Already planning on coming to the next one in Kingsport.

It was awesome to see so many families out this weekend, learning new skills and making memories with us. Congratulations to Brian on earning that rifleman patch! And to everyone else, you all made impressive progress.

Welcome aboard, Artie! A big thank you to you and your wife for your warm hospitality. I'd love to see her, along with all the other women from the families we met this weekend, at our upcoming Ladyseed event, May 31-June 1st - https://appleseedinfo.org/location/?locationid=973&eventid=10439.  We have a regular 25m Appleseed again in August for everyone.  If you don't want to wait that long - we have more nearby.

It's so nice of the deer to help solidify the target detection portion of Tar Heel's Known Distance block of instruction.

Here's a cheat.  4 deer timed their break just as the last shooter had finished his string of fire.  Some had already reached the other side before I could get the camera out.
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.
