This is an amazing opportunity.

I visited Kings Mountain Military Park with Cokeguy and Google.  Later, Alamance Battlefield with Cleveland.  I will remember both trips fondly for the rest of my life.

The historians and tour guides were top notch.  One of the Alamance historians said, "Like people can be, history is complicated and messy."  While we share a simplified story of April 19th, there's so much more to learn about our Nation's struggle to be free.  Visiting these battlefields will give you a whole new appreciation for our heritage.

I heard from the Shoot Boss (Regional Coordinator UpACreek) that the tour ticket includes lunch, snacks, and other cool stuff!

If you get a chance - GO TO THIS TOUR!  ^:)^

This obelisk at the top of Kings Mountain was dedicated in 1909 to commemorate the 1780 Patriot victory.  As you descend from this monument, you'll get to see Major (now LTC) Ferguson's cairn at the base of the hill.

I have booked the bus and can definitively say that there are some similarities to the picture shown. ;D

We are working on a trip patch and other cool stuff too.  It's a heck of a deal.  Best of all, we'll be surrounded by Appleseeders for the day.

I'm in.

I've officially purchased my ticket.

I live in Texas, so I'll probably fly in Friday, love every minute of Saturday and fly out Sunday.  Perk of a consulting job, I have enough airline miles to make this trip happen.

Have already signed up & looking forward to this trip back into History. Perhaps, in the future, we can band together and make a trip to Concord & Lexington a possibility. To step in their steps, would be eye opening & heartfelt.

That'd be awesome.  I've attempted it, but it peters out when trying to juggle work time off for more than a few people.  It's either a 2 day travel by car for those of us in our neck of the woods or a plane ride.  Either way, it's at least 4 days off. The great thing about Appleseeders are that there's usually somebody around who's up for adventure.  I traveled to Mass a few weeks ago for family and met a couple Appleseeders for a day hike in the middle of the week.  We did most of Battle Road.  They were really into the history and I learned all sorts of stuff.

I can't commit to anything quite yet, but I may just fly in to RDU a day early and take a day trip to Tryon's Palace.
