What a great way to start 2025.  A New Year's Day Shoot is in the books for Indiana.  We had 5 hardy patriots answer the call to show their marksmanship skills.  This group showed they knew what they were about with our first Hits Count Target and continued on when shooting our first squares.  Out of the 5 shooters, only one was a first time attendee.  Bryce brought some great skills with him.  The telling of our strikes seemed to encourage the crew as scores improved after the telling of the first two.  By the end of the day, we had 3 of the 5 score Rifleman at a Winterseed event.  The temps stayed at 27 with the wind all day.  Not quite the 50 we saw the prior day as 2024 rolled out.  Steve was running his bolt action with iron sights and put in a 217.  His son, our first-time attendee, showed us it runs in the family with a 215.  Danny, a second-time attendee, put in scores of 214, 224, and 232.  Myrradah got a chance to get on the line and scored 229 as well.  Both Chuck and Rider turned in very good scores, but came up short of 210 this time.  I can easily see them breaking the mark at their next events.  By the end of the day, we had improved scores on the Hits Count Target across the board.  Two participants took home those coveted George Rogers Clark quarters. 

I want to thank the participants for their willingness to switch ranges with short notice as we ran into issues.  The weather was a significant change too.  You all persevered and I applaud you for that.  I also want to give a shout out to Red Brush Range for allowing us to move the event to their facility with very short notice.  A critical part of any event is staff.  I had a great team of Myrradah, and JaysHoneyBunny for the day.  Darkfoot came over and helped with setup and teardown along with a heavy hand in securing the range for us.  Thank you all for the help.

We ended our day by adding a new volunteer to our ranks in Indiana.  Danny came to this event with a goal of becoming an Appleseed volunteer.  We did not disappoint him.
