Project Appleseed

We had another amazing Appleseed 25M Rifle Clinic this past weekend at Ben Avery Shooting Facility! This is a wonderful facility and we're very fortunate they host us.

Let's be honest, every shoot we do is great. But this one was a lot of fun and very memorable. Things that made this one special:

We got to give one of our our state patches to a shooter who cleared the Hits Count target Saturday AM first thing!


The marksmanship fundamentals were applied well to the targets and marksmanship did improve!


We were fortunate to have two master instructors join us, it was very pleasant to meet Google for the first time and Maximum Ordinate's guidance is always welcome to help us polish our skills.


Having 12 instructors and 7 students meant that our instructors were told to take the line and requalify.


I have to point out I only gave out one patch to an instructor, and it went to the youngest one on the line. 


By the end of the weekend I'd given out two distinguished rifleman patches. 



We tried something new, when we did the known distance shooting drill we paired it with the end of day Hits Count target... at 100 yards.  After getting come ups for 100 yards for both the rimfire and centerfire rifles.  We applied that to a 4x3 steel target "The Shingle" and a 20 "Stage 1" steel target.


Hits were counted and scored while shooters fired one by one. Shooters on the line were full of encouragement for each other and had a lot of fun waiting for the 'ting' after the bang.


We had a great group of shooters and instructors, my sincere thanks to both groups. You helped improve marksmanship and celebrate our heritage this weekend. Project Appleseed couldn't do it without YOU.

Great job, Arizona!!!  You guys just keep knocking it out of the park  Students and cadre alike, Congratulations!! 

It was another enjoyable weekend at the range.  There were several skilled shooters on the line, nice work shooters!

It's always fun working with my fellow instructors. I learn for you all every shoot. Looking forward to December's event.

It was great having Master Instructors, Google and Maximum Ordinate, out west.   

This was an awesome shoot as always. I loved telling my very first strike.
