**An Unforgettable Weekend at Midland Shooters Association**

Last weekend was one for the books as we gathered at the Midland Shooters Association for an exhilarating training event. Eight enthusiastic shooters came together to hone their skills, reconnect with past lessons, and enjoy two days filled with camaraderie and learning. Here's a recap of our incredible experience.

**Day One: A Journey Through History and Skill Refresher**

We kicked off Saturday with a warm welcome, starting the day with some captivating history shared by Txgoatlady. It was a perfect way to set the tone for our training. Following this, Robocop led us through a comprehensive safety briefing, ensuring everyone was prepared and focused on safety protocols.

With a sense of anticipation in the air, we dove into our initial hits count targets. It soon became evident that a bit of refresher instruction was in order. We rolled up our sleeves and got back to the basics, going over shooting fundamentals that many of us needed to brush up on. The collective focus began to pay off, and little by little, our confidence returned.

After a satisfying lunch break, where Shipwreck entertained us with more stories from shooting history, we readied ourselves for the AQT (Appleseed Qualification Test). This segment saw us working diligently on maintaining our composure despite time constraints, emphasizing the importance of making every shot count. Transitions between different firing positions were practiced intensely, leading to a rewarding evaluation of our progress.

The day closed out with impressive results on our hits count targets and a sense of accomplishment as we packed up and headed home.

**Day Two: Building on Momentum and Overcoming Challenges**

Sunday greeted us with enthusiasm, although we were down one shooter. Nevertheless, the spirit was undeterred as we reconvened for a safety briefing and to revisit the previous day's lessons. Our hits count targets quickly showed that we had retained much of what we learned, which was encouraging.

We then moved on to check our equipment and zero our scopes, addressing any technical issues promptly. After resolving some minor scope problems, it was time to dive back into AQTs followed by targeted drills. Each exercise further strengthened our skills, culminating in another brief lunch session where we discussed important principles for shooting at longer distances.

Post-lunch, we recommitted to our AQTs and continued with drills designed to help everyone find their natural point of aim (NPOA). It was rewarding to see another rifleman join our ranks, with several others perilously close to achieving the same status.

As the event drew to a close, we took our final hits count target. Tired but elated, we reflected on how far we had come over the weekend. The atmosphere was filled with camaraderie and appreciation as we shared a few parting words before packing up for the day.

**Gratitude and Looking Ahead**

Overall, the weekend was nothing short of fantastic. The weather cooperated beautifully, allowing us to focus on our marksmanship without too many distractions. A huge thank you goes out to the Midland Shooters Association for their hospitality and to the Wade family for their support and for bringing along a friend to join us on Saturday.

As we look forward to more thrilling events in the Midland area—and perhaps spotting a few orange hats among our fellow shooters—we're eager to continue sharpening our skills together. Here's to more unforgettable weekends filled with learning and growth!
