A rather impromptu KD scheduled for the fall ended up at the tail end of a cold front rolling in from the north.
We were joined Saturday morning by locals and riflemen from neighboring states. A former instructor, Mike, earned a Morgan Shingle patch to start the weekend.

The range teemed with local indigenous wildlife including gambit quail, jack rabbit, coyote, antelope and a mountain lion. This was lucky for the shooters as they made the target detection and range estimation exercises interesting. The sniper on the range also counts as indigenous wildlife as he was a Vegas local. For anyone worried about the welfare of the animals, please note that no cardboard was killed or injured during the class.

I am always impressed with the dedication of students that travel great distances to come to our KDs. The desire to learn and improve as riflemen is palpable in the way they approach the class.

This perseverance was tested on Sunday as the temperature dropped with early morning rains and wind gusts of 30-40 mph. The wind steadily increased throughout the day and as the sun set, it told us it was time to leave.

I believe everyone got something out of the class and I look forward to our next one in April.
