Captain

The Northwestern Gun Club opened up their 500 yard High Power range so Riflemen could bring out the centerfire rifles and work on mastering the Rifleman's Quarter Mile. We had the club president and other members (thank you Tim!) to help us set up the range. It is a fantastic facility – thank you NWGC!

This was the first Known Distance event at the NWGC and the first KD in Minnesota. The event was sold out with 16 shooters and a wait list!

I managed to take a few photos. You can click to see them bigger and click again to shrink back. The first is a group photo taken on the second day. Please add your photos and comments!

What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed, if so celestial an article as Freedom should not be highly rated. - Thomas Paine

Everyone was enthusiastic and ready to work. We had 8 shooters who received their KD qual, including Lucas who also earned his Rifleman's patch. MN Ward was the high score of the weekend with an impressive 47/50. He also shot Morgan's Shingle both days, including from standing on Sunday. Seven other shooters joined in the fun, shooting the shingle for a "Cold Bore" patch. Thanks to Proudpapa14 and The Destroyer for cooking for the group and to the NWGC for hosting this event. Congrats to all the shooters for a great weekend!

Honoring the memory of Adonijah Taylor (1730-1810) my Grandfather seven generations back, Deerfield MA Militiaman and Patriot, who answered the alarm on April 19, 1775 and along with his six sons served in the War of the Revolution.

It's not about perfection -- it's about progress!!

I LOVE this stuff!

"Perhaps you and I have lived with this miracle too long to be properly appreciative. Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again" Ronald Reagan

That sounds like a blast! I've always wanted to try a KD event. The range looks amazing. I am guessing this is not open to the public, no? If it is, the next time I am headed up to Duluth I'd love to swing by.

On a personal note, I am recovering well from Achilles surgery that I had this winter so hopefully by next summer I can join my MN Appleseed crew again to pursue the Rifleman's patch at long last.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.  I look forward to seeing you at an event soon.

As for the Northwestern Gun Club - they are a member based club with a waiting list.  However they run lots of events at the club - I'd encourage reaching out to them.  They have an NRA High Power group, Pistol events (USPCA/Steel Challenge, other) and love to see the ranges used.  Great club and great host for Project Appleseed!
