We had a great weekend at the Piqua Fish and Game Pistol Clinic. Eight shooters with varying amounts of experience were on our line. We covered all the fundamentals and saw scores gradually improving.

It was a very warm and humid two days, breaks for history were a welcome relief from the sun. Jason J. re-qualified with a 219 on his first Pistol Qualification Test (PQT),  then shot a 230 on the second and final PQT for the day to prove he did "know what he was about" with a pistol.

Pop-up tents were a very welcome addition to the line for Sunday.  Temperatures in the upper 80's required lots of breaks throughout the day, but also allowed more discussion time and a couple additional History presentations.

Huge improvements were seen in the students, but Heidi M. was the star of the weekend, clearing Sunday morning's Hits Count target and earning an Ohio Patch. Then, early in the afternoon she shot a 212 and received her coveted Pistoleerâ„¢ Patch.

Shooters departed with far more confidence in their pistol skills than when they arrived, most were very close to shooting the 210 score, with a little more dry fire practice and time on the range I'm confident they will earn their patch.

Thanks go to the knowledgeable and dedicated instructor crew of Doc Willi, Messer454, Sheepdog180 and Buzzard.

This was a great weekend with all of the shooters showing great improvement.
Thank you to Piqua Fish & Game for hosting us at the range.
I hope to see all of you at future events.

This was a good weekend for Appleseed!

I was very proud of my own daughter, Heidi M, for clearing a Hits Count target (something Dad has yet to do) and scoring Pistoleerâ„¢!  She enjoyed her first Appleseed experience and wants to return for a rifle course!

She expressed her admiration for Shep as an instructor!  "He is very wise," was her high praise!

She also listened closely to the history and has a better appreciation for the cause of liberty!

The Piqua Fish and Game is an outstanding facility!  Thank you for supporting Project Appleseed!

This was a great shoot! Everyone there had a teachable attitude and was there to learn and have fun! Thanks everyone.  See you soon!

Good shooting everyone!  Congrats to Jason and Heidi M!

Congrats on a great event - my favorite comment, "She also listened closely to the history and has a better appreciation for the cause of liberty!"  HUZZAH!!!
It's not about perfection -- it's about progress!!

I LOVE this stuff!

"Perhaps you and I have lived with this miracle too long to be properly appreciative. Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again" Ronald Reagan

The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other rights have failed -- where the government refuses to stand for reelection and silences those who protest; where courts have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their decrees. However improbable these contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a mistake a free people get to make only once.
