What a weekend of freedom and liberty at the Monticello Sportsmen Club.  The MN cadre welcomed four participants to spend the weekend improving their marksmanship and learning about our heritage of Rifleman.  Three were youth under 18 and the fourth was a college student.

Saturday was a beautiful day with gorgeous weather and Sunday started just as good until we hit that heat advisory stage just after 1.  with the beautiful weather, we were able to move quickly and efficiently getting plenty of shooting in with our heritage.

Opening hits count showed us two of four effective at 100 yards.  Saturday evening that improved to 1 effective at 400, 2 at 300, and 1 at 200 with a participant and instructor clearing it.  Sunday morning showed a bit of a backward slide with 1 effective at 300, 1 at 200, and 1 at 100, but Sunday afternoon after a long weekend of practice and shooting, we ended the weekend with 3 effective at 400 and 1 at 100.  Awesome improvement seen by all of the participants.

Mathias was knocking at the door with a high of 197
Autumn almost reconfirmed her rifleman ability with a high of 206
Elizabeth was right there with a weekend high of 180
Jack was improving all weekend and recorded a high of 146.

Well done by all of you.

Thanks must be extended to Monticello Sportsmen Club for the use of the range.

I must also say thank you to TheDestroyer, neckburn, & Salty for the great instruction and coaching.

Izzy and I had a wonderful time and the class did wonders for her shooting skills. Thanks for having us.
I have long had a tendency to tie marksmanship to morality. The essence of good marksmanship is self-control, and self-control is the essence of good citizenship. It is too easy to say that a good shot is automatically a good man, but it would be equally incorrect to ignore the connection.
