What a great weekend!

This year a 100-yard Rimfire KD was added to the schedule of shoots for Red Brush Rifle Range near Evansville, IN.  It was a glorious success.

The weather was wonderful but even more wonderful were the people who turned out for this inaugural rimfire event.

The instruction covered the three challenges to distance shooting in more detail than is possible at a 25m Appleseed.  This information was readily absorbed and put to immediate use.  Congratulations to Sir Pressored, Virch, Myrradah, twenty2LR, Big John, Darkfoot, and Indy who earned their Rimfire KD patches.  Market Farmer, Geek, and Alexandra the Great were all knocking on the door at the top end of 30s.  ShootNDrive only got to shoot it twice as he was learning the RSO role but showed significant improvement between the two.  By the end of the second day, we were regularly seeing scores of 44 to 46 with Virch posting a shoot high of 48!

The instructor corps did an incredible job of making the shoot run smoothly.
JaysHoneyBunny, who has great organization skill, did an excellent job of mentoring the new blue hats on registration and other matters.  I really appreciated the participation of AppleCore Dutchy, ShootNDrive and Miss Fired.  IITs Myrradah, Alexandra the Great, and Indy also got an opportunity to hone their skills.

The history was also very good with Darkfoot, Big John, Geek, JaysHoneyBunny, Alexandra the Great, and me presenting stories which reinforced the KD lessons.  Terrific job everyone!

A final highlight of the event was Sir Pressored officially starting his Orange Hat journey. Welcome to the instructor Corps!

NOTE: Photos to come in the following days.

The weather was warm this past weekend in Evansville.  The shooting at Red Brush was hotter.  Great work persisting and making score.  For those of us in the wings, it was inspiring to see great scores as the event progressed.  This group of folks are becoming a close family.  I love spending weekends with them.  I hope we can get some of you to make the trip up to try your skills in Jonesboro this October.  We will be stretching our RimFire skill out to 200 there.

"This country has been made by the Timothy Murphys, the men in the ranks. Conditions here called for qualities of heart and hand that Tim Murphy had in abundance. Our histories should tell us more about the men in the ranks, for it was to them, more than to the generals that we were indebted for our military victories." -  Franklin Delano Roosevelt, as New York Governor, 1929, at the dedication of the memorial to Murphy

Shooting in Jonesboro but looking forward to actually getting the whole class :) (inside joke) and stretching out to a full 200.

Going to sign up to IIT some to work on some more IIT PC'sd as well but primary focus on this one will be shooting. 50/50 here I come :)

Virch

I thoroughly enjoyed the Rimfire KD.  It really helped me understand my sighting system and how to make best use of it.  While I learned a lot, there's still a heck of a lot more for me to understand, so I'm looking forward to putting my skills to the test that the Jonesboro KD.

Terrific. Hopefully there will be some non-zero value winds at Jonesboro so you can get some direct practice with that.  If you can get out to the range before then, it would be worthwhile to establish a 125 yard comeup for the Morgan Shingle exercise.  1 MOA is pretty common.

Big John

This was a good shoot. The weather was tolerable, we had very attentive shooters with great attitude and desire for learning, and a good instructor core. We had our own bay at Redbrush as usual, and could use the training facility as well. Many students and instructors qualified.

There are more pictures out there which will be posted.

This was my first Rimfire KD event and it did not disappoint! The event ran smoothly and I received great mentoring from all of the instructors over the two-day event.  The participants' focus in the classroom and performance on the firing line was an inspiration!  .

twenty2LR

This was my first Rimfire KD event and it was excellent.  Thanks again to everyone whose work made this a great event.
