If I didn't know better I would have sworn that Mother Nature herself signed up for this one. Man, was it a nice weekend! Just the kind of weather to forge some new Riflemen at the venerable Clinton County Farmers' and Sportsman's Association in beautiful Wilmington, Ohio.

As always, Good 'Ole Bay 7 was the scene of the latest chapter in the long and storied history of CCFSA and Project Appleseed. Twelve rarin'-to-go patriots made the trip to the magic gravel paradise to get their fill of the best rifle marksmanship instruction the planet has to offer!

We hit 'em hard with a dose of history and then faced off against the Redcoats but, alas, it was almost a rout! It was clear that we had some work to do so we drug out the firehose and let 'er rip. They took to it like a bunch of shooters determined to be free!

When the rifle smoke cleared Jeremiah became the newest Rifleman in the record books with a cool 213!

And, as the shadows grew long, we faced off against them dastardly Redcoats again as James knocked one down to earn his first Ohio Appleseed patch as well!

Sunday morning dawned near perfect and we took every advantage of it. A quick review of the previous day's lessons and it was time for more shootin'. Those Redcoats put up quite a stand but we were too busy honing our skills to even notice.

Garrett and Josh were busy tightening up their groups while Catherine and Terry were meeting the iron-sight challenge head on! There was a lot to like about the way Andrew and Joe kept improving and Tommy wouldn't quit trying to be the master of his rifle. Sean was learning the ropes and Ken was so close he could smell the patch!

Before you knew it, it was time to "Load everything you got and all you can afford!" for Fabulous Prizes of Unspeakable Value as we split into "fair" teams and ran the infamous CCFSA team drill! By the time we got the Cowboy Action guys to stop cryin' and rounded up all the frazzled kitty cats we had a clear winner.

Chuck was the star of the show as he lead his team to victory and claimed a most fabulous prize for keeps!

It was all we could do to fend off another attack of the Redcoats and we called this one done. We had fantastic group of shooters who made for a productive and safe weekend that will, undoubtably, be remembered by all. Special thanks the people at the Greatest Range in Appleseed, CCFSA, and to the instructors who made it happen; Redleg, goodoldfriend, HikerMatt, Octopus, and Longrifleman.

We'll see you next time!

Beautiful weekend for a shoot. Day one showed nice progress between red coats. Lots of quality instruction all weekend.
Plans are useless but planning is everything.

It was a great weekend! Weather was great, instructors were great, and CCFSA is fabulous! I'll be back again in October. My son is planning to attend as well. I'll be bringin' the iron-sights again and plan to put more holes in more red coats next time. :)

Unbelievable weather for a June shoot in the Ohio Valley! Thanks to everyone for coming out and I look forward to seeing you all out in the future!
"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace.
We seek not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

"Posterity! You will never know, how much it cost the present Generation, to preserve your Freedom! I hope you will make a good Use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in Heaven, that I ever took half the Pains to preserve it." - John Adams in a letter to Abigail, 26 April 1777

Octopus

What a great weekend with fantastic shooters.

Congratulations to Jeremiah for qualifying as a Rifleman!

And James did an outstanding job clearing his Redcoat!

Of course, let's not forget how Chuck lead his team to victory with this devastating display of marksmanship!

Hope to see all of you out on the line again, soon!

Octopus

Almost forgot to mention - where else can you go and have your Shoot Boss give shooters the chance to try out their birthright as American citizens?

That's right - that's a CMP M1 Garand! And Catherine got the opportunity to put a clip's worth downrange.

Look closely, and you'll see the clip and brass from the eighth round!

I stumbled upon this most remarkable record of events. I commend the author and thank him for giving me a smile.
