Memphis, TN - AAR – May 17, 2024 (One Day Pistol Clinic)

Friday Pistol Clinic at Top Gun Memphis! We had a couple of returning shooters aa well as those attending their first Appleseed Pistol Clinic. A huge thank you to Top Gun Memphis for hosting this event! TigerDriver sets up the events and shooters keep coming out to shoot and hear a little about liberty.

After TigerDriver got us on the range and checked in the shooters, Old Navy Doc and myself started the program with safety. Then we were shooting and working on the fundamentals of pistol shooting. We took a break at lunch with BBQ from the in house restaurant and the Three Strikes of the Match.  After lunch we looked at transitions, malfunctions and shooting with one hand before taking a run at the Pistol Qualification Test. Everyone stayed focused and showed improvement. We had three shooters make a qualifying score; great job! The top score of the day was TigerDriver with an impressive 240! Our afternoon challenge / competition was won with a perfect score of 40 . . . AGAIN!

I also want to thank the great student group we had. They made our efforts rewarding and satisfying. The great questions during the history and instruction, as well as the clear improvements made by all warm our hearts and motivate us to be with you.

Old Navy Doc (Steve)

Big Ben cleared the Pistol "Red Coat" Target (Hits Count). He earned his Saratoga Quarter. Nice shooting.

The Appleseed volunteers at this shoot are exceptional. TigerDriver just took his blue hat and worked his first shoot in January. Five months into 2024 he earned his 10 Event pin and has 11 total shoots in 3 different states. To put this in perspective, only one Blue Hat has ever worked for than 10 shoots in a year . . . ever! He has also been the engine behind organizing and scheduling 9 of those 11 shoots. All that in the first five months of the year!

We just missed seeing Old Navy Doc get his 75 Event Pin. That happened last month making this Pistol Clinic number 76. That puts him in the top 2% of all volunteers since Appleseed started! Congrats on 75!

Great shooters and fellow volunteers are what make Appleseed so rewarding!

I'm no Pistoleer™ but with what I learned at the clinic, I know what I need to work on to get the coveted patch.  Great job by the instructors!  I'll be back.
