It was a great day at Wears Valley Ranch. I would like to start by thanking everyone at Wears Valley Ranch for what they do for children, and for being continued supporters of Project Appleseed. If you have never worked an event here, I highly suggest you do. We started the day with 9 shooters and several spectators who came for moral support and magazine preparation. We began the morning with guest speaker Brian McDonnell from the Ranch to let the shooters know what they do. After that we jumped right into introductions and what Appleseed is all about. I gave the First Strike of the Match and then CarrollMS gave the safety brief. With all that covered it was time to get on the line and see what our shooters could do. Leadslinger66 was our morning Line Boss and introduced the Line Commands and ammo difficulties. We shot the morning Hits Count target and found John still knew what he was doing clearing the target and that we had a little bit of work to do. It was off to the races as we began teaching the shooters what they needed. We covered eye dominance, sling use, the 6 step, NPOA, the prone position, and dry fire. We ran a couple dry practices and fit rifles, adjust slings, and let the students dry fire in position. Finally, it was time to go live, and all that work was paying off with lots of good groups. We got in three 5 shot groups and decided it was time for the most important of all blocks LUNCH. While the shooters were eating lunch Leadslinger66 gave us the second strike of the match. Before going back to the range, we also gave a laser demo of the prone position. With lunch cleaned up we headed back to the range with a new Line Boss, Dracomeister. We shot another square and CarrollMS introduced talking targets. After another square it was time for IMC. After sight adjustments were made and verified, we introduced mag changes. We let the shooters try it first with no time limit then we introduced the stopwatch. It was time for CarrollMS to get those pesky Redcoats back to Boston with the third strike of the match. With history covered it was time to introduce the AQT. We covered transition to prone and dryfired the stage before going live. It was then time for sitting. We covered the sitting and kneeling positions and how to transition. The shooters were given time to try the positions before dry firing stage 2 then going live. We then covered standing and shot stage 1. Finaly it was time to give the shooters a little break and shot stage 4. With the sun setting quickly we shot another redcoat target while AQT's were being scored. It was quickly found that the shooters had defiantly learned something as 3 shooters cleared the target. With a benediction given we brought the youth up and gave them the William Dimond patch. Thank you, TJ, Connor, and Ender for joining us. We then had a few more patches to issue. John requalified with a 220, Josh qualified with a 218, and a hardy HUZZA to Conner who not only shot a 212 but did so with a single shot bolt action rifle. Tim shot a 208 and cleared stage 4. Thank you to all the shooters for coming out. Practice what you have learned, and you will all be rifleman in a short time. I hope to see you all on the line again in the near future.

What a way to break in a new Shoot Boss! Great group of shooters, wonderful weather, and a venue to be proud of! Congratulations to our new Riflemen and Huzzah! to all that came out to hear the History.

Here are some photos of our Riflemen (and our "Almost", stick with it, you'll get there!)

What a great day! This was my son's first shoot on a line with other shooters. He scored a 112 but since he's only been shooting since September, I consider it a success.
The instructors were awesome! I really thank Andrew & the others for their time, dedication, instruction & the history lesson. We're doing a homeschool class on the Constitution, & it all fit well with that.
I took a bunch of pictures that I will attempt to post.

I can only seem to post one picture at a time. Should I do that?

The easiest way to post lots of pictures is by using the imgur app. You can creat a picture file there and post a link here.

OK, thanks. I have them uploaded to imgur. I will try to get them posted. Bear with me.

Well I figured out how to post them.
Sorry they are not thumbnails.
