My thanks to Don and Matt at Hobbs Island Shooting Range.  They manage a fantastic facility and Alabama is a better state for their efforts!

We had perfect weather, so nice we skipped the classroom altogether.

On Saturday morning, eight shooters came ready to learn the Three Challenges of a Rifleman and measure themselves against the AQT.  We started with a brief KD lesson and safety... then got to the fun part!  Right away, Kurt joined the ranks of Morgan's Riflemen with his cold bore shot at 250.  Well done, sir!

After that, our shooting included sighter rounds at each of the KD distances to collect Data On Personal Equipment (DOPE) followed by AQTs.  We heard the story of the War of Regulation & Battle of Alamanace on Saturday at lunch.  Google, UpACreek, and Axeman shot Rifleman scores on Saturday!  And Huzzah to Cleveland for yet another perfect 50 score!

On Sunday morning, we started with lessons on target detection and range estimation.  We followed that with a range estimation exercise.  Sunday came around Kelly joined the ranks of KD Riflemen!  We set aside one KD AQT to shoot using Battlesight Zero and... no suprise that it works!

At lunch on Sunday, we learned about the Battle of Kings Mountain and how the Overmountain Men helped change the course of the Revolutionary War.

Congratulations to all the KD riflemen!  Chris and Drew... you are both so close... persist and you'll get there!

Thanks to everyone that came out to shoot this weekend, including friends from Kentucky, Georgia, and Tennessee.  My thanks to Google, GT Engineer, Willociraptor, and UpACreek for serving at our event and making my job so much easier.  You guys are professionals!  :)

Of course, no AAR is truly complete without pictures.  Please jump in with your own!

Let's start with the group photo

And back at it.

Google teaching wind as we get to 300 yard shooting.  Will assisting.

Listening to instruction.

It must have been fascinating!  :)

The formal range is 380 yards.  To get 400, we back up the firing line about 20 yards into the parking lot.  The adjacent 100y range is closed to ensure safety.

The gravel parking lot can get a little dusty.

Google's 2 minute group at 400.

Awarding KD patches.

Shoot bossing is exhausting!

Knowing is half the battle.  -GI Joe.  (Showing up is the other half.)

We're in the Liberty business.  Stay on Mission & Stay on Message.
