The fantastic Mountain Valley Sportsman's Association opened up their 400 yard range so Riflemen could bring out the centerfire rifles and work on mastering the Rifleman's Quarter Mile. They are one of the most supportive ranges in Appleseed - thank you MVSA!

Derek came down from the NW corner of Arkansas and in spite of this event being his first Appleseed in more than 10 years, he made fantastic progress and was able to shoot in the mid-30s before the end of the event. We also had our wayward Memphis shooters, TigerDriver and Calaboose Cross. They engaged in their normal friendly competition and pushed each other; TigerDriver earned his KD patch and Calaboose Cross requaled and made his first Distinguished qual on a KD AQT. Great Job! We also had some instructors on the line with Papasi requaling and Guns&Hoses earning his first KD Patch with a solid 43. Shoot Boss also managed to shoot an AQT and requal. So 5 out of 6 shooters were shooting score with our other shooter coming to the line out of "Appleseed Retirement" and shooting a 35!

I managed to take a few photos. You can click to see them bigger and click again to shrink back. The first is a group photo taken on the second day. Please add your photos and comments!

Calaboose Cross

Had a great time at the Hot Springs, Arkansas KD. Shoot Boss Captain did a superb job in making this a safe and fun event. Captain and his excellent instructors did an extraordinary job in relating the importance of marksmanship skills with our great nation's founding and history. As I told them at the conclusion of this instructional and fun event, they are "where the rubber meets the road" regarding relating the importance of being a Rifleman and explaining how this skill protects our nation against enemies, foreign and domestic. Captain did a stellar job in focusing our attention on achieving the Rifleman's quarter mile! TigerDriver and I had a lot of fun in our continuing friendly competition. TigerDriver for the first time in a center fire KD event hit the 250 yard Cold Bore Morgan's Shingle from the prone position. Kudos to him! With some incredible luck I hit it for the fourth time, once from the prone at Puryear and three times from the standing unsupported here and at other events. . I had a four leaf clover in my pocket! Kudos to Captain for his requal with an incredible score. All the shooters were skilled marksmen and Appleseed should be proud!

The first order of business was to see who would join Morgan's Rifle Company . .

Calaboose made the mark from standing . . . for the third time! TigerDriver connected at his first KD event with Papasi rounding out the Morgan's Riflemen.

Here are my few remaining pictures of the event. TigerDriver brought a family heirloom musket for everyone to check out and get a photo.

Overall, this was a GREAT event! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone on the line again soon.

Guns&Hoses

I can't remember who asked me, but I just heard back from Nikon and yes, they are still repairing riflescopes and I was quoted ZERO dollars for "warranty" work!
