It was an uncomfortably wet and warm morning yet fifteen dedicated Americans woke up early and joined us at the Interlake Sporting Association to practice their rifle marksmanship. Two shooters successfully engaged Captain Morgan's Shingle with a cold bore shot first thing in the morning, then we got to learning. We were particularly excited so many shooters came with centerfire rifles. We still love our 22 LRs, but there's just something special about a line of centerfire rifles roaring to life after the ‘FIRE' command - including both the legendary M1 Garand and M1 Carbine who both made appearances.

The rain stayed much longer than welcome on the uncovered line, but still everyone stayed attentive, energetic, safe, and made great improvements to their skills and identified strengths and weaknesses in their equipment. Everybody returned on Sunday plus one more shooter who was unable to be there the first day. We reviewed, checked zero, worked on a few more drills then began engaging the AQT target. Eric showed persistence and practice pays off and became our first Rifleman of the event with a 218, soon after followed up with an even more impressive 236, and finished the day with another 218. Alex also qualified after being close all day with a 215.

We had many Sharpshooters still, close but not quite yet Riflemen. Practicing the transitions for stage 2 & 3, smooth magazine changes and rifle manipulation, and rapid NPOA shifts in the comfort of your own home without any ammunition in the same room will put you a step ahead of the rest at your next event. I have your patch with me for safekeeping until then.

Thank you all for a safe and enjoyable event and thank you to Interlake Sporting Association for continuing to host us. I hope you are proud of the work you did this weekend and I look forward to seeing you again.

Shooters, I'm very pleased to hear we got some new riflemen out of this event!

Thank you for your persistence through the rain, and through the challenges you each had to work through to improve your marksmanship this weekend.  I saw improvement in every single target out there, and  I expect to see you all back at an event in the future to continue your marksmanship journey.

Thank you Iborche for running an awesome event, and thanks Doc Sporseen, CTorg, and ultragtr for another weekend working to wake up sleeping Americans.
