We had a great day Saturday with 14 shooters and bright skies at Creeks Edge Farm. There was an even mix of beginner shooters and shooters with more experience under their belts.  Maximum Effort, Cleveland, and ArmyVet kept us in the right frame of mind with heartfelt renditions of the 3 Strikes throughout the day.  It was obvious from the Hits Count target that some shooters only needed to fine tune their shots while others had some work to do. The morning's instruction seemed to fly by and the shooters showed improvement after just dry firing and the first few squares targets.  It was nice to see the friends and families on the line encouraging each other and cheering each other on throughout the day.  By day's end, we had 2 new and one requalifying Riflemen!  Congrats, Jason, John, and Josh.  John managed to get exactly 210 and was treated to a friend-approved dousing of icy New England water.  Samuel, Benjamin, and Johnathan all received the William Diamond Patch before heading home.

Sunday brought some cold and drizzy weather, but a riflemen persists.  7 Riflemen returned the second day.  We packed the morning with some Dangerous Old Men (and children) stories and lots of review as we waited for the threat of rain to pass us.  The shooters verified their sights and then got right into shooting AQTs.  As the day wore on, it was impossible to tell the beginner and experienced shooter groups apart by looking at the targets.  John, a brand new shooter, routinely only managed to put one hole on paper all weekend - all shots together!  We had 6 out of 7 qualify as Riflemen before the end of the day, with most getting at least 2 riflemen scores.  Congrats, Shannon, Paul, Elliot, John, Josh, and Virginia, huzzah!  The 7th shooter showed great improvement, but was having some equipment difficulties.  We hope to see all the shooters at another event soon.

Pictures will follow.  Feel free to post your own if you were at the event.

Zoom in on that target! He is a new shooter!!!  All 5 shots are in one hole.  He kept doing this all weekend.  Sorry for the eyes closed.  He kept them open while shooting.

What an amazing group. It was great to see so many shooters come back to earn their Rifleman patch, plus they brought friends with them. Hopefully, those that didn't qualify at this event will return soon. A Rifleman Persists.

Upacreek did an amazing job with her SBIT2. Huzzah.

Thanks to all the crew that came out and endured the cold.

Huzzah,
