What a weekend,  Michigan in January is always a gamble,  however for the most part the weather held out, well at least the part we were on the range for....

4-6 inches of snow on the ground for Saturday,  then more overnight, made for an interesting drive in on Sunday.

However 14 patriots braved the snow to improve their marksmanship and learn the story of our country's founding.

After a chilly safety briefing out in the cold, we immediately had four shooters hit Morgans Shingle on the first Redcoat.

We then moved into our course of fire and by the end of the day had two requalified Riflemen.  Al and Biery, both returning students, wanting to face the challenge of the Winterseed.  Biery even scored Distinguished on the first day.

Sunday added more requalifications, so many that I had to hunt down additional Winterseed Patches, and still ran out.  But wait, of those rifleman scores on Sunday from Steve, Josh, Ali and Amy, was another Distinguised.   Steve earned that patch as well as the icicle one.

Ali and Amy were new Rifleman qualifiers,  Ali scoring with Tec-Sights and Amy (our own AppleCore volunteer) breaking through with a 225.

Now there also was great improvement by others as well.   First timers, Sam and Colin were knocking at the door of 210 on the AQT.  Christopher as well was impressing us with groups all weekend.  Josh, Bill, Chris and Elizabeth, returning students showed how much improvement they had made in their time off.

Sunday held a special treat, as LCSC Member, Roundballer, once again visited to allow students to try a Brown Bess musket.  RB is always a favorite and all who desired got a chance to send a very large chunk of lead downrange.

I want to thank everyone for a great event.  Thanks especially to our volunteers:  Bogie, Macula Mama,  Mr. Zeke, Mr Surplus, TL, PocketWatch

I'm horrible at remembering to take photos, and I hope that those who did, will post them up below, along with your thoughts on the class.

I'm pleased to hear this was such a successful event.  Hats off to number6 for stepping up on short notice when I got sidelined with a medical concern.   I was bummed to miss this one, but grateful to all the shooters and instructors for forging ahead with it.  I'm looking forward to the next opportunity to see you all on the firing line.

I had been asked a few questions of the Spec's on the Bess.  I didn't have all of the answers right at hand, so I will list them here.  Just remember that these were "contract guns" so there are variances in in some spec's.
