The weather was glorious. Little wind, lots of sunshine, moderate temperatures.  It started raining around 4:00 Sunday but didn't affect shooting.  We were able to pack up and move to cover to complete the benediction and awards.  Congratulations to Jo for clearing a Redcoat Target and scoring Rifleman (235). BrotherPilot received his "50" shoots completed pin. Congrats!

The group of women were awesome. They listened and tried hard to do the techniques as we taught them. They also had lots of good questions. Just an unusual note: of the 9 shooters, 6 were left-handed. We had enough instructors and minions (male assistants) to make the event relaxed and enjoyable. We worked in the dry-fire trigger exercise with rifles across the ladies' laps so they could focus on the feel of the trigger.  I thought this was very helpful to them.  We also worked on NPOA with laser rifles during dry-fire Sunday morning and that added to the shooters understanding of NPOA.  In fact we had several shooters hit the Oreo cookie when we shot Natural Point of Oreo while carding the sights.  Of course they got a small pack of cookies if they hit the Oreo. It was fun to see how excited adults can get over cookies. One of the best things is that we fit in 3 AQT's Sunday --a first for us in a Virginia LS event.  We also had a couple of more shooters that I believe will eventually score Rifleman. Overall, all ladies persisted and worked through the inevitable frustrations of being new to shooting and seemed to enjoy the weekend. I hope to see them all at future events.

"5 minutes for this stage - that's like a week in people years!"

"Responsibility is a unique concept... You may share it with others, but your portion is not diminished. You may delegate it, but it is still with you... If responsibility is rightfully yours, no evasion, or ignorance or passing the blame can shift the burden to someone else. Unless you can point your finger at the man who is responsible when something goes wrong, then you have never had anyone really responsible.

"Scoring is a function of great execution, and winning Is the result, but thinking about winning can pull your focus off of proper execution in a competition. Thinking about process is the answer."- Lanny Bassham

WOW!  Congrats!!!  Sounds like an amazing event.  I have a Ladyseed coming up in a couple of weeks and will have to try the Oreo trick -- us ladies really like the oreos/chocolate!!!   ;D

I love the lady events as I believe the ladies are there to learn and apply and almost always do quite well!

It's indeed interesting that that many of them were lefties -- I have experienced events with an unusual number of lefties, but 6 out of 9 --- that's unheard of.   ???

It's not about perfection -- it's about progress!!

I LOVE this stuff!

"Perhaps you and I have lived with this miracle too long to be properly appreciative. Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again" Ronald Reagan
