In what has become a recurring theme for Project Appleseed in western PA this year, the weekend was fraught with rain and rumors of rain, and was hot and humid both days.  Nevertheless, a handful of intrepid patriots ventured out in a quest for tales of our heritage and the elusive Pistoleerâ„¢ patch.

Many thanks to Mingo Rod & Gun Club for hosting the event and providing the logistical support to make it possible.

As we dodged rain showers and proceeded through the course of instruction on Saturday the students showed good progress in their ability to make their "hits count".  Joe cleared his morning Redcoat target, earning the coveted PA state patch, and continued to perform at a high level until his pistol failed him late Sunday morning.  In addition to the Redcoat (Hits Count) targets, we performed a few drills designed to emphasize the importance of the "balance of speed & precision" when shooting in a competition or self-defense context.

Eventually equipment malfunctions, lack of ammunition and fatigue resulting from operating in a tropical environment all weekend (we Yinzers aren't used to that) brought the event to an early end Sunday after lunch.  Thanks to our students for coming out and persevering.  You did well under challenging conditions, and we hope to see you at another Project Appleseed event, soon.  Bring your friends!
"You can't teach Liberty by practicing tyranny." -  Mr. Happy

It was an enjoyable weekend with good people despite the challenges.  I look forward to seeing you all on the line in the future.
Last evening, it occurred to me that when a defender of Liberty is called home, their load lands upon the shoulders of the defenders left behind. Just as the Founders did their duty for Liberty, every subsequent generation must continue their work lest Liberty perish. As there is no way for the remaining adults to take on the work of those that die, we must pass the ideals and duties on to the children. -PHenery
