What a great group of participants that came out to Wells Rifle & Pistol Club in Wells, MN.  Tobias worked hard to drive registration from 5 a week before the event to 9 on the Friday before the event.  While a few of those who registered had to drop for various issues, we started Saturday with six on the line.  Each of the participants brought teachable attitudes and a can-do attitude.  While the heat and humid worked to rob us of our fine senses, they persisted with the course of fire.  Our first AQTs on Saturday showed progress, but the heat had wiped out most of our ability to get our bodies to perform what we'd just learned.

Sunday broke with three participants back for more and one mom we coaxed onto the line.  After getting sighted in, we started the AQT grind.  John proceeded to shoot his best AQT of the weekend at 199 and was game to try it 8 more time.  While he wasn't able to obtain the coveted 210 score at his first event, he's assured us he will persist and be back at a future event.

Ward, after starting in the 180's on his first AQT, proceeded to steadily improve until just before lunch break, he earned a 216 with his iron-sighted 10/22.  Congratulations Ward!

Al, Tobias, Mark - we missed you on Sunday but I hope you continue to persist in your rifleman's journey.

Simeon - Your enthusiasm for shooting was great to watch all weekend.

Linda - walk-on mom, thank you for taking us up on the opportunity to shoot.  Not having attended Saturday's session and only planning on watching her son shoot,
you demonstrated how to shoot exceptionally well while being coached by Tobias.  I hope we can get your whole family out at an event soon.

Kevin, instructor extraordinaire , had a number of goals he set for himself.  Two of those were to score rifleman with his first AQT of a weekend and to score rifleman with iron sights.  He accomplished those on Saturday and Sunday.  Saturday he used his bolt-action ruger to shoot 235 on the first AQT of the weekend and followed it up Sunday morning by borrowing Greg's gun to shoot 219 with iron sights.  Now we just have to convince him to make Shoot Boss one of his next  >:D

Thanks to each of you for giving us a weekend to learn to be better marksman and to learn to be better citizens of this great nation.

Forgot to mention, a big thanks to Greg for coming up from Iowa and spending the weekend with us Minnesota instructors.

THANKS!!!
I had a great time; I was nowhere near as recovered from my surgery and ready to go as I had thought. I'm still stiff today.
The "Revenge of the Pizza" and 22Salty's singing were kind of downers, BUT TheDestroyer nearly cutting his hand off brought everything back to the good side.  **)
Congrats to Ward on getting the patch. John will get there; at this point I think it's down to tidying up the details and, most importantly, letting himself do it. It was neat seeing Linda, who had never fired a firearm before, actually shoot a 212, but without mag changes and transitions. If she attends a shoot, she'll go home with a patch.

Captain

Minnesota just keeps having great events! Sounds like there was a lot of improvement and several shooters well on the road to a new patch . . . Persist!

What a great event! It was my first and it won't be my last. Thanks for the great instruction. I learned a lot from everyone.
