We had another great event at Jonesboro, IN.  The weather was just about perfect, and 17 shooters came out to hone their rifle skills and hear some history.

Saturday started out with the Red Coat, the basic points of instructions, some squares targets, and then lunch.  After lunch the group moved quickly through the Green Coat and we shot our first (and only) AQT around 3 PM.  Congratulations to our Joe, who was attending his first Appleseed, for scoring a 211 on his first AQT!  Huzzah!  One of our other shooters, Mitch, re-qualified with a 212!  Some drills (ball and dummy, carding the sights) and the Red Coat finished out the day.

Sunday morning started with me having the honor to present Pookie with his well-deserved Red Hat!  Huzzah!  We worked through re-capping the Saturday instructional points, did a few more drills, and started the AQT grind.  We ran four more AQTs, and had several more shooters score above 210.  Congratulations to Dexter, Jay and Dan for earning their patch!  We also did some Parker's revenge fun shoots - the shooters were split into three teams and the first contest was a tie, necessitating a second fun shoot.

Cody and Ben - I hope everything is well with your family.  We hope to see you at another event.
Melissa - good shooting with the iron sights.  It certainly is more challenging!
Jay - congrats on the re-qual - looking forward to seeing you in an Orange  Hat
Joe and Jackson - congrats, Joe on the patch - and Jackson, keep practicing and you'll be in a patch soon!
Hunter - you're knocking at the door.  A little dry fire practice and I'm sure you'll get your patch at your next event!

Thank you to everyone for coming out, helping with tear-down, and as I said Sunday afternoon - you are our best ambassadors.  Please tell your friends and family about us.  I expect to see many events on the calendar for Jonesboro in 2023.  Let's fill those lines!

Extra shoutout to Dexter - thank you for your service; Godspeed on your deployment.   :F

Another year that I was able to spend my wedding anniversary with my wife at the range.  Nothing says romance like putting lead downrange as a couple.  I as able to accent the event by shooting score with iron sights.  Cherie was able to complete PC activities for her IIT path.  A great weekend with a perfect end.  As usual, we made some new friends and had the chance to catch up with some of the MI cadre.  A special thank you to the team that came down to help put on this event.

Our cause is just . . . our country will be grateful - George Rogers Clark

"This country has been made by the Timothy Murphys, the men in the ranks. Conditions here called for qualities of heart and hand that Tim Murphy had in abundance. Our histories should tell us more about the men in the ranks, for it was to them, more than to the generals that we were indebted for our military victories." -  Franklin Delano Roosevelt, as New York Governor, 1929, at the dedication of the memorial to Murphy
