Mixed Metaphor

My deepest and most profound gratitude to the Shooters who came out for the event.
I want extend our most heart-felt gratitude to Don Eiermann, owner of Hobbs Island Shooting Range.  Don and Matt are tremendous supporters of Liberty and Project Appleseed!  We have held several events there and have many more scheduled.
We arrived around 7:30ish and held an instructor meeting.  Most of the instructors headed down to set up the range.  We had 9 Shooters in Pistol Bay 3.
We held all instruction on line. Living Hand gave an outstanding recount of the First Strike!  We rolled right into safety and pistol familiarization, then we brought pistols to the line.  Our first 13 rounds were on a Hits Count/Red Coat target.  On the range we learned about proper grip of the pistol, chamber checking, Isosceles stance, low ready centerline index, 6 Steps of firing a shot and natural point of aim.  At lunch, Booney Stomper regaled us with the Second Strike.  Well done, Sir!
We practiced what was taught using the Small DOTS target.  Dry fire or practical exercises for each block of instruction worked well.
The wind was crazy!  It added an extra element that was, at times, humorous.  We had target backers fall over and some were blown off.  The crew worked quickly and safely to get them back up.
After the practical exercises, we proceeded to the PQTs.  We took a break from PQTs for the Third Strike.  Old Navy Doc stepped up and did a great job with the story!
We had 1 out of the 9 qualify as Pistoleerâ„¢!  Willociraptor was shooting tremendously!  He qualified with an expert score of 226.
The improvement for all Shooters was fantastic.  Everyone was shooting very well.

I can't possibly express my gratitude adequately to Old Navy Doc, Black Knight, Living Hand and Booney Stomper for travelling from Tennessee. They all have my undying love and respect.
I love Appleseed.

Please post your pictures, if you have any.

This was a wonderful class to be with. They were alert, focused and quick learners. They all showed significant improvement were very attentive to the message of responsible Liberty. The gusts of wind were wildly entertaining but everyone persevered in true Appleseed manner. I was honored to be a part of this event.

The pistol side of the program has had my interest since I first heard about it, and I was thrilled to finally attend a Pistol Clinic. Big thanks to the Tennessee crew for travel down to instruct!

The tricks about locking your wrists and sorta rotating your forearms were super helpful. Turns out there's a difference between (a) establishing a solid interface between your hands and the pistol (grip), and (b) establishing a solid interface between your arms and your hands (locked wrists). That was a breakthrough for me. So was the forearms bit; it seemed to greatly enhance the stability of my grip. Don't know HOW or WHY it works (yet), but it's hard to argue with results. I'll study the mechanics of this phenomenon purely out of curiosity, but for the purposes of putting rounds on target, I'm perfectly okay with leveraging other people's better understanding for my own benefit.  ;D

I'm not a "pistol guy" so it was really nice to go do some shooting with real-time observation and coaching. (Compared to reading an article on technique, going to the range on my own, and probably building bad habits due to my limited understanding and likely misinterpretation of the materials covered in said article.) Big big thanks to the instructor crew; I'll be doing more pistol events for sure.

Another Amazing firearms clinic. This time pistol. This method of instruction is leaps and bounds from what I received from the many years in the Military. The top-notch safety methods made you feel comfortable to shoot and have the full-confidence that you're not going to be hurt. You will be an improved Marksman when you leave this clinic. The wind was quite entertaining as well. Hobbs Island was a very nice facility with safe lanes to shoot in. Absolutely loved the training of the birth of our Wonderful Nation. You won't get that type of training in school. The instructors were phenomenal and, "Mixed Metaphor" did an amazing job running the show. Wonderful times as always. Thank You.
