Project Appleseed

We were joined Saturday by two different groups, one for the AM session and one for the PM session, who all came out despite the cold to see what Project Appleseed is about for a short introduction to Project Appleseed event.  After the introduction to components of a Ruger 10/22 style rifle and everyone indicated they were comfortable with that rifle type as well as their own rifles, we jumped into the safety briefing by our fellow volunteer instructors in training.  After the safety briefing, 6 steps of firing a shot, steady hold factors for the prone position, rifleman's cadence, and natural point of aim were all taught in detail and we got into shooting sighting squares to get everyone's groups shrunk down by applying those fundamental skills.  Once we had workable groups, sights were adjusted to bring those groups to the point of aim and we got into a few hits count target for prizes.

Its my pleasure to announce we had 1 clear the target completely, and 2 more between the AM and PM sessions who earned themselves enough points to be rewarded a Project Appleseed pin.  A brief history lesson was discussed around Daniel Morgan and his Riflemen who played a vital role in multiple battles, especially the Battle of Cowpens which was famously fictionally recreated during the ending of the movie "The Patriot".
