October gave the SOCAL shooters for Project Appleseed a little rain Saturday morning and beautiful skies on Sunday for another successful Appleseed shoot, with 15 of 18 shooters on the line.
We had three no shows Saturday morning, and had 5 beginners, and a few return shooters, and all rimfire .22lr rifle for our event.
All shooters toughed out the California downpour Saturday morning (meaning a light shower!), and ended up with 15 shooters and a 151 round count at the end of the day.
Sunday was the gorgeous, mild weather we are so grateful for here in SOCAL, and after a quick overview, the "AQT grind" finished off the day with return rifleman Dan (who shot rifleman in VA a few years back) shoot a 216, and newcomer Nathan, shoot a 213. Congrats to both of our new SOCAL rifleman!
Also, welcome Steve to the Applecore ranks:  he will be receiving his blue hat and training manual shortly, and will be on board with us in the future to help coordinate our shoots. Thank you so much for volunteering, Steve!
We had one equipment issue of note, which was a badly corroded barrel on a new Ruger 10/22 takedown. The owner stated he had put several rounds through the rifle, and had cleaned it regularly. However, upon inspection of the target, rounds were entering the paper along the axis of the bullet (i.e., a tumbling round for each course of fire).  Upon inspection, the mid-section of the rifle was badly pitted and corroded, so it was taken off the line and replacement was found.  The owner intends to contact Ruger directly.
Sunday afternoon had its share of dirty extractors as well! However, everyone had a great positive attitude and we talked to our newcomers about oil, cleaning and fine tuning the Ruger 10/22 for the Rifleman challenge.
After a round count of 286, we ended the day with 7 shooters on the line, who we appreciate so much for sticking it out, not giving up on that elusive rifleman score, and helping us clean the range at the end.  Thank you to all of you who stuck around.
Our history lunches were very well received, and it was obvious  our students  love this country, and really enjoyed the Three Strikes and Dangerous Old Men.  We definitely have a "black powder" enthusiast out there! (right Ben?! Thanks for the great pictures and video!)
All in all, a very wonderful weekend, thanks to our great instructors, and our fellow patriots who showed up and spent two days in the dirt with us at Rainbow Gun Range!   If any of our shooters are here on the forum, and  you took pictures, please feel free to post then here!  More pictures are forthcoming.

Update to the pictures:   The Imgur site said my new pictures "violated their policy" so here is a Google link.

Thank you so much to Suni, for sharing his pictures and the Google app above has a few more.   Great pictures, Suni!
"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

What an amazing weekend!  Thank you Kurt and all of the other instructors who helped me learn new techniques.  It was great to meet all of the other attendees from different backgrounds who I would have never met otherwise.  Congratulations again to Dan & Nathan!  You both show that this can be done.  Haha!  I look forward to working with everyone in the near future and attending more Appleseed events as well.  Cheers!

Hi Guys!  What a great weekend.  Thank you to all the instructors who had such patience with me.  It was such an amazing/challenging weekend.  Suni thanks for sharing all of the great photos.

I have already told my family & friends in so many states about the Appleseed Project.  I will be practicing what I learned and be back for sure!  Thanks again & God bless America!

Great Time, Great Instructors, Great Program.
Special thanks to Mike for the amount of help, guidance and reminders and Kurt for showing us that it's not just me or my original Virginia Instructors that are as emotional about our History lessons, (gets me every time).
Congrats on a successful event and I will be back with more friends asap.
