Slippery Rock Sportsman Club hosted their first Appleseed Pistol Clinic this weekend.  Students came from as far away as Harrisburg to learn pistol skills, hear stories of our American heritage and enjoy the beautiful weather.

Most of the students had previous experience with pistols, and this was apparent by how quickly they absorbed the instruction and turned it into Pistoleer™-quality scores on the Appleseed Pistol Qualification course of fire.  Saturday morning we were busy with instruction and drills.  Frequent breaks were necessary, because the day was hot and plenty of fluids were being consumed.

The beginning of the story of April 19, 1775 was delivered at lunch, and then it was back to the range for more instruction and drills.  By the end of the day the "rest of the story" of April 19th, all "Three Strikes of the Match" had been presented and an Pistol Qualification Test (PQT) had been fired, with great results.

Sunday morning began with checking zeros and a warm-up target, and then we dived back into the PQTs.  At lunch the story of "Sam & Sam" (Walker & Colt) was presented, then we went back to the line for the last PQT of a very successful weekend.  Paula had several qualifying scores, and a high score of 232 on her final PQT.  Jim had a high of 216.  BBQ_Bandit had the high score for the weekend, 233, also on his final PQT.

I'll tune those mags and if they still don't work I'll leave them at home!  The red dot has been ordered and practice on the standard MkII mag changes will be done since the gauntlet has been thrown down.😎

It was a fun but humbling weekend.

It was great meeting the bbqbandit and his wife and seeing Jim back.
Last evening, it occurred to me that when a defender of Liberty is called home, their load lands upon the shoulders of the defenders left behind. Just as the Founders did their duty for Liberty, every subsequent generation must continue their work lest Liberty perish. As there is no way for the remaining adults to take on the work of those that die, we must pass the ideals and duties on to the children. -PHenery
