TC 10/22 clone and Tech-Sights; Compatable?

A local dealer who I often refer local Appleseed shooters to is pushing the TC 10/22 clone pretty heavily. I have not (knowingly) run into any of these on the line.

I have heard (from someone, somewhere LOL!) that Tech-Sights will not fit the TC clone. Does anyone have firsthand experience with this?

Also, does anyone have firsthand experience using the TC clone at an Appleseed, scoped or irons?

When speaking with first-time attendees, some of whom don't have a .22, it would be helpful to have more information to work with.

I have the tc1022. Put a scope on it. I really like it compared to an out of the box ruger.
1. Scope mount is integral to the receiver.
2. Better trigger over stock ruger.
3. Bolt mod is done, dont have to mess with the bolt release.
4. Sling swivel mounting point molded into stock (or use mlok)
5. Hole in receiver for cleaning
6. Nice magpul stock (light, good cheekweld)
7. Threaded muzzle...for things

Catch-10-22

Due to the machined-in picatinny rail, you will need the rail mounted Tech Sights. I have two I used extensively as loaners and both use scopes.

Agree with all points of cwcdl79's assessment. I use the threaded barrels for flash hiders to protect the muzzles (and they are scraped up, so glad I have them on there). I like the coating on the bolt and pins as well - easier to clean than a Ruger bolt (mostly wipes off). I only use Ruger 10/22 mags with mine, rather than the TC mags with the last round bolt hold open feature, mainly because there is a special way to load I don't want to teach people that need loaners.

I do find that the machined in rail is short, like all standard Ruger rails/mounts, which can impact scope mounting for proper eye relief. I have compact 3x scopes that are very forgiving on them.

Though I like the stocks they come with, I also like that you can sub in any 10/22 stock you want. So I use youth-sized stocks sometimes, adult sized other times depending on the student.

The T/CR 22 are worth the money. They are a 10/22 with the standard upgrade many do. My wife and I have one each. They have good sights on them from the factory.

Last shot Bolt hold open, easy to lock the bolt open, you can slingshot the bolt closed, cleaning hole in the rear of the receiver. Comes in a magpul stock. Will accept 10/22 upgrades. The triggers are smooth and crisp.

Really worth a look into them if you have not already.

They also have last shot bolt hold-open when using TC magazines, but not with ruger mags. I haven't yet tried to see if a Ruger will do it with a TC magazine

I have a T/CR 22 that I bought about a month ago, and I used it just last weekend at my 2d Appleseed event.

At my first Appleseed, I used an AR with Holosun HS503 red dot.  I didn't qualify as Rifleman but honestly couldn't expect to, since I was a fairly new shooter at the time.

At my 2d Appleseed, which was last weekend, I used the T/CR 22.  On Saturday I ran just the HS503 but was feeling a bit weak-eyed at the 400yd silhouettes.  So for Sunday's shoot I added the Holosun HMX magnifier (3x) to the setup.  I managed to shoot Rifleman on Sunday.

I have not tried to use the iron fiber optic/peep sights.  I have not tried to mount Tech Sights.  My eyes are old and my eyesight isn't the same as it was in my 20s.  I think iron sights would be frustrating.

I think the T/CR 22 is an excellent rifle.  I didn't have any issues during the 2 days of Appleseed.

As others have said, it takes Ruger magazines but the Ruger mags won't enable the last round hold-open.  That's not an issue for me.  I used Ruger mags during the AQT and the lack of last-round hold-open was not an issue.

I replaced the original T/C stock with a Magpul Hunter X-22, which has a better LOP and more cheek riser options.  For younger shooters, or shorter-armed people, the T/C stock will probably be fine.  It has a nice shape, very ergonomic.  But it's a little flexier than the Magpul Hunter stock.
