Solicitor Shooter

Here is some impressive (and inspirational) Scandinavian riflecraft. It's called stangskyting (Stang Shooting).

The goal is to put as many rounds as possible on target at range from the prone position in 25 seconds.

https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2015/06/04/16-hits-in-25-seconds-at-300-meters-with-a-bolt-action/

It's proof of what's possible when steady hold factors, NPOA, and rifle manipulation are sharpened to a razor's edge.

Enjoy.

Catch-10-22

That was awesome to watch! I kind of want to try it at an Instructor shoot :)

@ Catch 10-22, I was thinking that a modified Stage 3 AQT target or a 300 yard KD target would be a whole lot of fun.

@ Bobasan, I drew the same conclusion. I'm sure it helps that many competitors are shooting 6.5 Swedish ammo.  The competition also seems to buck the convention that semi-auto rifles (note the Norwegian G3's) are inherently faster than bolt actions (at least at 300 meters). Wilder still, some competitors use Krag Jorgensen bolt actions: a rifle whose prime was arguably short lived and 100 years ago. I'm now motivated to shoot 250 with a bolt action .22...nothing to it. :~

I am tempted to give that a try with a CZ 455 for the 25 meter AS. Keeping the thumb and finger on the bolt handle the entire time is an approach I have not seen before. Here is another from the same competition  https://youtu.be/SfY899uNOk0

Completely agree it would be fun. And definitely want to try it (at least at 25 yards on a scaled target) with my CZ455 Super Scout as well

JWashington (Jak) and I did some testing to see just how fast we could run a bolt action 22 last year , this was the method we arrived at get the trigger with the middle finger.

bob we should try it sunday.

when we did it before we ran 3 seven round mags  21 rounds  and I think we were 40-46 seconds for time the reload is the delay. we were only shooting at 25 yards standing and alternating steel with each shot.

it was an old Marlin 780 so certainly nothing fancy

it would be interesting when we run stage 3 to try it slung up , I will bring the shot timer so we get split times.

Funny you mentioned it... this came across my Facebook feed the other day:

"New world record!!!
At Haga shooting range a bunch of spectators witnessed some spectacular speed shooting. The new world record in Mad Minute is 39 hits and is held by the Norwegian shooter Inge Hvitås."

Here's a video of him shooting the record:

https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FMadMinuteChallenge%2Fvideos%2F614757232344535%2F

It was shot at 200 meters on a ~7 MOA target.
60 seconds, 44 shots fired, 39 hits, and 9 magazine changes.
Using a bolt action.
Amazing.

Here are a few photos:

Learn to shoot a clean at 300 yards on the D target. That means all shots in the 5 ring.  After that try shooting the SR3 target at 300 yards in the requisite time and cleaning that with a decent x-count. Then try shooting fast. In precision shooting, no one cares how fast you shoot if you don't shoot well. Nor do they care how slow you shoot, within the time limit if you clean the target.

Pete,

If it didn't take so long to reconfigure my Anschutz 1813 I'd shoot it at an Appleseed.  I used to shoot 100yd reduced NRA highpower courses without issue.

As for running a bolt gun fast the middle trigger finger is much faster for sure.
