Despite all the swampy conditions and mud, we had a great Appleseed at the Piqua Fish and Game; it kind of reminded us what the Regulars must have faced after unloading at Lechmere's Point! We moved the line back to shoot off the concrete pad, which kept shooters out of the mud but limited our space; sixteen shooters gave us a full line.

Saturday was a day filled with instruction and history. Light rains moved in during the late afternoon, but thankfully didn't become problem; targets became damp but not soaked.

We had four riflemen re-qualify on Saturday afternoon, Delmas A. with a 229, Heather P. (purple_patch) with a 214, Nalin P. shot 210, and Matt J. with a 234, which was shot from behind iron sights to earn him the Distinguished Rifleman rocker.

Saturday's Red Coat target showed huge improvement from morning to evening. No one hit the shingle or cleared the target in the morning, but six hits into the shingle and two cleared targets demonstrated the value of the lessons put into practice through the day.

On Sunday the rifleman scores continued with three new riflemen earning their patch; Jim F. shot a 212, Greg A. scored a 222 then reconfirmed with a 225, Jared G. shot a 225, reconfirmed with a 210, then he earned the Distinguished Rifleman rocker by shooting a 235 with iron sights.

We had an excellent team of instructors at the event; The Buckeye Trapper, Coyote 217, Chad, Rattlehead, Doc Willi, Thomas F, Shadow 870, Haley Beth and Cactus Jack, thanks to all of them for their dedication.

It is with great pleasure that I announce purple_patch (Heather P.), accepted the Orange Hat of an IIT (Instructor In Training), we welcome her to our team!

Was that a K31 on the line? ???  You don't see those very often at an Appleseed.

Yes, and it was also proof that rushing doesn't pay off: First AQT with it, I made 32 shots out of 40, and scored 180-something.  Second AQT, I made 40 shots out of 40, and scored a 160-something, if memory serves.

Looks like another amazing event at Piqua.  Great job all given the weather and the other challenges.  Huzzah.

Thanks to Shep, The Buckeye Trapper, Coyote 217, Chad, Rattlehead, Doc Willi, Thomas F, Shadow 870, Haley Beth and Cactus Jack for all of their help this weekend! It was a fun event! It took a couple of years, but we finally convinced my parents to join in on the fun!

Thanks to all of the Instructors that helped us the whole weekend.  They kept the morale up and us interested during the times of rain and the mud we walked in.  I think everyone had a great time.

Thanks again,
Del
