It was a glorious weekend for liberty! We were treated to Florida's best Spring weather: Clear, sunny, steady breezes and temps up to the low 80s. Eighteen patriots assembled for the Patriots' Day weekend event at Port Malabar Rifle & Pistol Club. Shooters aged 12 to 65 with rifles evenly mixed between centerfire and rimfire. All experience levels were represented. Our youngest shooter Kikyo steadily progressed to shoot a 79 on Sunday. She has a great teachable attitude and was a joy to work with. Three Riflemen requalified. Asher 216, Ray 212, and Dan (Wood2Dust) 235.

Bear Arms shared his Patriots' Day experiences from his trip to Battle Road last week: So much to see; Very emotional; Looking forward to going again. SWOFO completed his journey to earn his Red Hat. We took great joy in blowing the heck out of it with a ten-round volley. HUZZAH Ray! Speaking of volley's, we honored our forefathers with the national thirteen round volley as the names of the patriots who gave their lives for freedom on April 19, 1775 were read.

It was a great event with awesome students and exceptional instructors. It was an honor to share the weekend with you all!

Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

Good job Dennis and crew! This was my first Appleseed in a couple of years. I enjoyed shooting with my friends and thought the Port Malabar Rifle & Pistol Club venue was very good. The pop up shelters you had for the firing line were much appreciated. It was also nice to have the option to shoot .22 and center fire which I took advantage of.

The poster showing Battle Road was a good visual aid when talking about the events of 4/19/1775, and the booklet showing the same and including the details related to marksmanship and safety was also a nice addition to the standard handouts.

Thanks to BlindDog for the photos.

Bad men cannot make good citizens. It is when a people forget God that tyrants forge their chains." - Patrick Henry

The American Constitution is remarkable for its simplicity; but can only suffice a people habitually correct in their actions, and would be utterly inadequate to the wants of a different nation.  Change the domestic habits of the Americans, their religious devotion, and their high respect for morality, and it will not be necessary to change a single letter in the Constitution in order to vary the whole form of their government. - Francis Grund 1837

"In the prevailing political theory of the founding era, the family was considered one of the essential pillars of republican virtue, and it not only needed to be nurtured, but also protected from the tyranny of the government.... American revolutionaries and their descendants understood marriage and the family to be schools of republican virtue. -Mary Lyndon Shanley, Review Essay, 27 Law & Soc. Inq. 923,

Huzzah!

Sorry I could not be there, I was required in Indianapolis.

The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other rights have failed -- where the government refuses to stand for reelection and silences those who protest; where courts have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their decrees. However improbable these contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a mistake a free people get to make only once.

-- Justice Alex Kozinski, US 9th Circuit Court, 2003
