What a wonderful weekend for an Appleseed, the cold, windy weather of a few days ago gave way to more spring-like temperatures; we even had some sunshine over the weekend, which seems to be a rare thing in Ohio this year. Fourteen shooters joined us Saturday morning at the Piqua Fish and Game range for marksmanship and history.

Our first strike given by The Buckeye Trapper along with Thomas F, who was attired in colonial dress and gear, authentic to the period of April 19, 1775. The .75 caliber Brown Bess with bayonet and cartage box would have probably been very similar to those carried by the men under the command if Isaac Davis. Thanks go to Thomas, for helping bring history to life.

The day proceeded pretty much on schedule and allowed us to shoot three AQT's in the afternoon. Good improvement was seen throughout the day as shooters put the instruction into practice.

It was great to have Chad back on the line instructing Saturday, he was home on leave from Saudi Arabia, and spent some of his last remaining time with us before returning to duty. Best wishes Chad, you will again be in our thoughts and prayers.

Our Sunday afternoon fun match was a full sized silhouette at 100 yards. Shooters were broken into teams of four with twenty rounds each; they had forty seconds to engage the target, the winning team to be determined by the number of hits in each target. The fire command was the quote from Major Buttrick at The North Bridge, "FIRE MEN! FOR GOD"S SAKE FIRE AS FAST AS YOU CAN." When the hits were counted the winning team had sixty-nine hits into their target!

We had two new Riflemen on Sunday, Bill shot a score of 231 with iron sights, which also earned him the Distinguished Rifleman rocker, and William shot a score of 214; congratulations to both of them! Darold reconfirmed his rifleman status by shooting scores of 222, 221 and 210.

Several other shooters were getting close to that elusive 210 rifleman's score, I'm sure Bryan, Garrett and Josiah will earn Rifleman patches at their next Appleseed!

We were very impressed with Tom's commitment to improvement and hope to see him back on the line soon. Also, young Grant showed great progress; it's so good to see America's youth learn the lessons of rifle safety and the rewards of hard work and dedication.

Thanks go to our truly great team of instructors: The Buckeye Trapper, Coyote 217, Chad, Doc Willi, Thomas F, Shadow 870 and Haley Beth.

It was a great weekend spent with a wonderful group of fellow Americans!

A great weekend of fellowship, history, and marksmanship!  Grant and I had a wonderful time!
A special thanks to all the instructors.  Each of you personally made sure we had the absolute best experience possible.

Huzzah!!! Well done all, it was an honor and a privilege to celebrate liberty and freedom on our most sacred of days! Congratulations to Bill and William for becoming Rifleman as well as Darrel on reconfirming his score! Thank you everyone for your continued commitment to what Project Appleseed stands for.

It really was a fantastic weekend! I will get some of the pictures I took up as soon as I figure out how.
