Long Rifle

We held the first Colorado Rimfire Known Distance (RKD) event at the Boulder Rifle Club Oct. 18. Seven intrepid souls came out to test their skills with their .22s at distances out to 200 yards. The weather was stellar and everyone had a good time.

We spent a significant amount of time getting our come ups at 50, 75, & 100 yards. Once everyone had their 'dope' we started shooting AQTs using the simulated 100 yard targets. The stages were shot in regulation time, using the appropriate positions, and transitions. Everyone did pretty well. We got 2 new rifleman. Congratulations to Will (Ridge Walker) & Steve.

Only 3 folks stayed late to try and hit the 200 yard steel. It was great fun making it ring. The location for the steel made it difficult to see even with optics. I was holding over the target by about 24" with my iron sights but connected a bunch. Pretty challenging for me since I could not really see the target so had to hold on a dark spot on the backer that resulted in hits (I proved you can hit what you can't see). Also I had '2' front sights. Was tough to put the sight in the same place every time since neither one was clear.

All in all a great time and I look forward to having a least a couple more of these events on the schedule next year in Colorado.

Sounds about right.  My come-ups with CCI SV from 25 to 100 are +2, +2, +5, and from 100 to 200 is an additional 14 MOA...  add a couple thousand feet of elevation and 12 MOA sounds just about right on.  ;)

Long-distance rimfire is great fun, when you can find good ammo!

Live Free or Die!!!

It does not take a majority to prevail... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men.

"Honor, justice, and humanity, forbid us tamely to surrender that freedom which we received from our gallant ancestors, and which our innocent posterity have a right to receive from us. We cannot endure the infamy and guilt of resigning succeeding generations to that wretchedness which inevitably awaits them if we basely entail hereditary bondage on them." â€"Thomas Jefferson (1775)
